Chevron's Commercial Skills Development Program offers an opportunity to apply your skills and expertise to real world issues that face our business and influence how the world receives energy. The two-year program is designed to develop commercial expertise for Chevron. You'll work in various business units and collaborate with talented, diverse teams on challenging assignments.

Who we hire

We're looking for talented M.B.A. students who:

  • The ability to thrive in a team-based, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and analytical skills.
  • Three to six years pre-MBA work experience in a commercial role, preferably in the energy industry.
  • Flexibility to move among a variety of U.S. and global work assignments.
  • An MBA degree.
  • U.S. citizenship & permanent residency in the U.S. Strong international candidates may be considered.

What you’ll do

The program is designed to expose you to the upstream, gas and midstream businesses and further develop your commercial skill sets, such as:

  • Strategy and planning
  • Business development
  • Asset commercialization
  • Decision analysis

During the two-year program, you will rotate through three or four assignments in the business units listed below. While there is no pre-established sequence for your rotations, the first will likely be based in the U.S. The path you follow will blend your interests and strengths with Chevron's business needs.

  • Global Power
  • Shipping
  • Gas and Midstream Headquarters
  • Upstream and Gas
  • Corporate Business Development
  • Chevron Energy Solutions

While in the program, you'll receive guidance from a program manager as well as from a senior leader who will serve as your mentor. You will also receive regular performance feedback during each rotation assignment.


Where you’ll work

Opportunities are available throughout the globe. Depending on your role, you may work in the following U.S. locations:

  • San Francisco Bay Area, California
  • Covington, Louisiana
  • Houston, Texas

Assignments outside the U.S. could be in one of the following locations:

  • Australia
  • Bangladesh
