Process Engineering
As a Field Process Engineer at a Chevron Products Company refinery or Chevron Oronite chemical plant, your job is often as varied as our products. You might monitor product yields, catalyst life and process efficiencies. You could make recommendations that increase plant efficiency or yield. You could help define needs for inspection, cleaning and repair of equipment during plant shutdowns. Or, you might contribute ideas for redesigned processes to improve product quality, reduce operating costs or improve safety or the environment.

We’re looking for highly motivated people who want to develop and excel in a team-based environment. Among our requirements, we’re looking for individuals with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
What you’ll do
At Chevron Energy Technology Company, you can work on process technologies from initial conception and development through to deployment and operations or project support. Currently active areas of technology development include:
- gas to liquids
- reactor science
- separations science
- heavy oil upgrading
- fuel cells
- distillation
- offshore stranded gas (LNG>L)
- natural gas processing
- sulfur processing, recovery and handling
- CO² sequestration
- refining of the future energy reduction technologies
As a Chemical Engineer in process design, you might use computer simulations and detailed design tools to develop the process specifications for a new piece of equipment (such as a reactor, distillation column, vessel or heat exchanger), a new operating unit, or maybe even a new refinery or chemical plant.
Chemical Engineers work in Chevron's operations around the world. Typically, they:
- spend their first two to five years in process engineering and unit operations
- can move into new assignments after two to eight years of experience
- may qualify for additional positions, including unit supervisor, project manager, lead engineer, or sales manager for a product line after 10 or more years of experience
