Diversity is vital in this group to effectively support our countless international operations; Earth Scientists and MBAs who know the business work alongside former journalists and English Literature graduates to get Chevron’s message out.

The business of finding and developing energy resources has long played a high profile role in world affairs, and arguably never more than in our current global environment.
Today’s energy business is increasingly complex and involves a broad range of stakeholders. Your intellectual skills and organizational capability in dealing with demanding issues and perspectives will help build the company’s reputation and its ability to continue developing valuable energy resources.

Where you’ll work
Chevron’s Policy, Government and Public Affairs organization operates from two tiers; within a country or regional/functional business unit, and at the corporate level.
Our corporate headquarters at San Ramon, California, offer the widest range of positions in the areas listed here, but we also have corporate staff in Washington, D.C., Houston, Texas, London and Singapore.
Many of these roles are also needed, at varying levels according to business needs, by our strategic business units. These are located throughout Asia-Pacific, Eurasia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, North America and Europe.
Functions Full Details
- U.S. Federal and International Government Affairs — Our Government Affairs’ mission is to influence public policy in support of Chevron’s business objectives and enhance the company’s reputation by building coalitions
- U.S. State Government Affairs — U.S. State and Local Government Affairs representatives interact with state governments, manage local community activities and handle emergency responses on a local level.
- Political Programs — The Political Affairs group develops global policy and compliance procedures, and provides guidance and counsel to operating units to help assure compliance with both company policy and all applicable laws.
- Legislative, Regulatory and Political Affairs — This group works with operating company representatives, company advocates and service organization experts to determine how proposed legislation and regulations will impact Chevron’s business objectives.
- International Business Support —Public affairs counsel and support to international operating companies, business units, global businesses and country managers are provided through three Global Business Liaison Teams — Upstream, Downstream and Gas.
- Public Affairs — This multi-function group targets internal and external audiences, communicating corporate priorities, strategies and values to employees and the public worldwide. Internally, the group plays the primary role in developing and delivering enterprise-wide employee communications and programs aimed at advancing the business literacy and overall engagement of employees. Externally, the group promotes the company’s core business activities and new initiatives to business partners, the media, , the financial community and the general public. The group is also responsible for putting a face on the company by reflecting the Chevron brand and image through corporate advertising.
- Corporate Responsibility — Corporate Responsibility means that we continually apply The Chevron Way values in order to maximize the positive impact of our operations on both current and future generations. The Corporate Responsibility team identifies and tracks important public issues that have enterprise-wide implications, and shares this information in support of business units, operating companies and corporate departments.
- Community Engagement — Community Engagement representatives build partnerships by investing in communities through grants and sponsored programs and events. It also supports employees in their efforts to be involved in their local communities.
- Opinion Research — This group tracks and monitors Chevron’s reputation globally, giving guidance and understanding of what key stakeholders think about the company and what needs to be done as a result.
