Downstream business refines crude into finished products which it then sells. Global Refining is an important Downstream unit. It runs the refineries that make the fuels and petroleum products that the other Downstream businesses, Global Marketing, Global Lubricants and Global Supply and Trading sell.

Truly, the sun never sets on Chevron's Global Refining, an effort that encompasses:
- Eight proprietary (company-owned) and 11 joint venture refineries in 14 countries
- An overall refining capacity of more than 2.2 million barrels a day
- Production of more than 25 different products, customized to meet local requirements
- An upgrader and a processing complex that it operates in conjunction with Upstream
- Employment of over 7,000 employees and contractors to keep its operations running around the clock
- Products to help customers fill their tanks at over 24,000 retail sites around the world

Outside the U.S. refineries are located in:
- Burnaby, Canada
- Cape Town, South Africa
- Pembroke, United Kingdom
Chevron has ownership in many Joint Venture refineries in locations such as Singapore, Australia, Thailand, India, and Korea which additional career opportunities.
