Chevron’s Horizons graduate development program is a competency-based program available to new employees who have recently graduated from, or have less than five years experience in, selected disciplines. The program's main focus is the first five years of your career journey, but the development and planning tools used in Horizons will be valuable throughout your career.
The Horizons program develops employee competency through technical training, assignments and mentoring, and plays a critical role in developing your career.
who is eligible for horizons?
To be eligible for the graduate program you must have completed a relevant bachelor's, master's within the last five years and have had less than five years' relevant work experience.
Available graduate opportunities vary from year to year, however applications are typically encouraged from high performing students studying the following disciplines:
- Corporate affairs
- Drilling and completions
- Earth science
- Facilities engineering
- Health, environment and safety
- Human resources
- Information systems
- Petroleum engineering
- Supply chain management

apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities
Chevron is committed to building a capable and committed workforce, attracting and retaining high calibre personnel. Apprentices and trainees are valuable skill resources who bring new ideas and diversity to the business. Opportunities are available to individuals who demonstrate excellence in previous vocational studies and/or have relevant workplace experience.
There are a number of nationally recognised programs on offer including a Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship (4 years), Electrical/Instrumentation Apprenticeship (4 years), Warehouse Operations Traineeship (2 years), Business Administration Traineeship (2 years) and Process Operator Traineeship (2 years). Each stream involves comprehensive practical and theoretical training which is reinforced through a combination of on and off the job learning strategies.
Participants in the programs will:
- Gain invaluable hands-on experience by being a part of operating oil and gas projects.
- Receive structured off-the-job training.
- Continue career development under the supervision and guidance of an experienced mentor.
- Use the program as a gateway to explore job opportunities with Chevron.
Upon completion of the program you will receive a nationally recognised qualification in the given discipline.
