With the growth of our operations in Australia we're constantly searching for talented earth scientists, petroleum and reservoir engineers, commercial and finance specialists, business support staff and experienced operations personnel, as well as a wide range of other career types.

Where you'll work

Chevron Australia's interests are managed out of its office in Perth, Western Australia and we also have employees and contractors based at our production facilities on Barrow and Thevenard Islands, offshore Western Australia. The Global Technology Centre is also located in Perth.

Graduate Development Program

Chevron has developed a five-year competency-based Graduate Development Program with your needs in mind. Key elements to our program include:

  • an open and collaborative culture
  • eligibility for four weeks of training every year
  • an assigned mentor
  • eligibility for an international posting
  • program members working closely with experienced colleagues as they rotate through our project teams

Please note that the 2008 graduate recruitment campaign has now closed. Applications for our 2009 campaign should open around March/April 2009.

Who we're looking for

We seek team players who demonstrate excellence in academic or work- related performance and a personal philosophy that is aligned with The Chevron Way.

Eligibility

Applications are open to candidates who will or who have completed a relevant Bachelor's, Master's or doctorate degree.

  • during the recruitment campaign year, or
  • within the last five years.

Applicants for Chevron Australia positions must hold Australian Permanent Residency. International candidates may be considered for Energy Technology Company positions.

Salary and Benefits

Your salary will depend on the area in which you are employed and the competencies and skills you bring to the role. Vacation Employment Program

Applications will open on 5th July 2008.

Vacation Employment opportunities are open to university students at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our structured 12 week program (from December to February) will provide you with a hands-on opportunity to participate in real oil and gas projects.

Selection Process

The selection process will include all or part of the following:

  • Assessment of resume, cover letter and academic performance
  • Behavioral interview
  • Reference check
  • Pre-employment medical

Timeline

It is anticipated the Vacation Employment Program for 2008/09 will follow the timeline below:

  • Online applications open - 5th July 2008
  • Online applications close - 20th July 2008

Apprenticeship Program

With our oilfield operations on Barrow and Thevenard Islands, and the proposed Gorgon Gas project, we have a range of apprenticeship opportunities available each year.

Our five year program:

  • combines structured off-the-job training and hands-on workplace-based experience with the opportunity to be a part of operating oil and gas projects
  • includes an assigned mentor to assist with your career development.

Upon completion of the program you'll have two nationally recognized qualifications, one in a recognized trade and one in process operations.

Selection Process

Our apprenticeship program is coordinated by the West Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), through Apprenticeships Australia, with Chevron hosting the apprentices while they're in the workplace. As the employers of the apprentices, CCI conducts the initial recruitment phases of the program with Chevron being involved in interviewing selected candidates to fill the vacant positions.

Timeline

The apprenticeship program will follow the timeline below:

CCI Advertising 5th July 2008
CCI Selection Process September 2008
Interviews October 2008
Employment Offers November 2008
Commencement of Apprenticeship January 2009

Eligibility

The minimum requirements for potential candidates have been agreed by participating oil and gas companies, and these requirements also meet CCI standards. They are:

  • Year 12 with passes in math, science and English to a TEE level, or
  • Year 11 with passes in math, science and English with successful completion of a pre-apprenticeship course in the relevant field.

Apprenticeships are also open to mature-aged applicants with relevant industry skills and/or experience.

Only Australian Permanent Residents may apply.
