Chevron Australia is the largest holder of untapped natural gas resources in Australia and plays an essential role in meeting Asia’s growing energy needs. Operations include the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for domestic use and liquefied natural gas (LNG) for export to customers in Asia and elsewhere. Chevron’s Global Technology Centre located in Perth provides research, development and technical support to Chevron's businesses within Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Who We Hire

In addition to full-time positions, Chevron offers a vacation employment program, a graduate development program, and apprenticeship opportunities.

The Vacation Employment Program

This program is available to you if your education is in one or more of the following areas:

  • Petroleum Engineering
  • Earth Science (Geology, Geophysics)
  • Facility Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil)
  • Information Management
  • Finance/Commerce
  • Health and Safety
  • Environment
  • Project Services

To participate, you must be an undergraduate or a postgraduate university student. The program lasts 12 weeks (from December through February). Positions may vary each year.

The Graduate Development Program

This program is available to you if your education is in one or more of the following areas:

  • Petroleum Engineering
  • Drilling and Completions
  • Earth Science (Geology, Geophysics)
  • Facilities Engineering (Instrument / Electrical, Mechanical, Civil)
  • Information Technology/Computer Science
  • Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering
  • Health and Safety
  • Policy, Government and Public Affairs
  • Supply Chain Management

To participate, you must complete a relevant bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree or have received a degree within the last five years. The graduate development program is a five-year program. Positions may vary each year.

Apprenticeship Opportunities

Apprenticeship opportunities are available to individuals who demonstrate excellence in academics or in their current full-time position. The apprenticeship program is a five-year program that is coordinated by the Western Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) through Apprenticeships Australia. CCI conducts the initial recruitment phases of the program, and Chevron interviews selected candidates for available positions.

When you participate, you’ll:

  • Gain hands-on experience by participating in operating oil and gas projects.
  • Receive structured off-the-job training.
  • Continue your career development under the supervision and guidance of an experienced mentor.
  • Use the program as a gateway to explore job opportunities with Chevron.

Upon completion of the program you'll have two nationally recognized qualifications, one in a recognized trade and one in process operations.

Where You'll Work

Depending on your role, your journey at Chevron could take you to one or more of the following locations in Australia, as well as other locations around the world:

  • Perth, Western Australia — operations and Global Technology Centre
  • Barrow and Thevenard Islands, offshore Western Australia — production facilities
