Are you recruiting now?
Yes. Despite the worldwide financial crisis and economic slowdown, Chevron Australia is continuing to recruit as the company progresses two significant natural gas projects.
What are you recruiting for now?
Chevron is recruiting across a broad range of oil and gas disciplines, including technical and corporate roles, as well as continuing to invest in new talent through graduate recruitment. We anticipate an ongoing need to recruit oil and gas professionals throughout 2009.
With the financial downturn, are you willing to take people from industry sectors other than oil and gas?
Chevron’s policy is to recruit on merit. We welcome applications from people from a variety of backgrounds and industries and will make recruitment decisions on the basis of the best fit for the requirements related to the role on offer. This could be people from within the oil and gas sector, or people from other technical sectors.
What is driving Chevron Australia’s recruitment?
The key drivers behind continued workforce expansion will come from commercialising the Gorgon and Wheatstone projects, as well as our vigorous exploration and appraisal program offshore north-west Australia.
What is Chevron doing to attract and retain high calibre professionals?
Chevron Australia has an excellent reputation as an employer of choice and was rated as the best oil and gas company to work for in Australia in a survey conducted by Gallup.
Furthermore, we have been nationally recognised as an employer of choice for women and encourage a diverse workforce.
We offer a competitive salary; recognise and reward performance; and care about our people, their health and safety and the environment in which they work and live.
Chevron offers interesting and challenging career opportunities, and as one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, is a global organisation with global opportunities.
What does working on the Gorgon Project offer?
The Gorgon Project is Australia’s single-largest resource project and will involve one of the largest carbon dioxide injection projects in the world. Peak construction employment in Western Australia will be around 10,000 people, with more than 3,500 direct and indirect jobs sustained throughout the life of the project. So it offers the opportunity to work on a truly world-scale project, as well as one of the most complex and technically challenging projects of its kind in the world.
What does working on the Wheatstone Project offer?
Our 100 percent owned Wheatstone Project will not only provide a foundation for commercialising the Wheatstone resource, but also future gas development opportunities in the western half of the Carnarvon Basin.
The project also will cement Chevron’s position as a major LNG operator in Australia and globally.
