Ever wondered how we fare with such extreme cold weather? Chevron employs cutting-edge technologies that have allowed the Hibernia Platform offshore Newfoundland to become the world’s first “iceberg-proof” production platform. Want to find out more about our business? Visit the Canada fact sheet.

Special Programs

Chevron Canada offers three programs to help employees develop their potential in a global company.

Internship/Co-op Program

Each year Chevron Canada seeks to employ university students for its Internship/Co-op Program in a number of disciplines through its campus recruiting activities. Interns typically work for four to 12 months before returning to their studies, and some later return for another intern position or for full-time employment.

The company recruits students from the following disciplines:

  • Engineering (petroleum, mechanical, civil, electrical, chemical)
  • Earth sciences (geology, geophysics)
  • Corporate communications
  • Finance

Mentorship Program

Chevron Canada’s formal Mentorship Program helps new full-time campus hires grow in their careers and adjust quickly to their work environments. A new employee is matched with a mentor and meets with that person regularly for approximately a year. The program is also offered to interns while they are with Chevron and is evolving to include other employees, as well.

Experienced employees who become mentors receive special training to carry out this important role. Together with their protégés they establish relationships that have clear expectations, agreed-on boundaries, accountability and commitment, ways to solve differences, and opportunities to assess the success of these relationships.

Participants have provided positive feedback about their experiences with Chevron Canada’s Mentorship Program.

Horizons program

Horizons is a formal five-year training program to develop recently-graduated engineers, geologists and information technology specialists. The program includes a curriculum of courses that must be completed within five years, and includes the expectation that each candidate will have three different jobs and one location transfer within that time. The Horizons program is designed to develop the technical experience of those enrolled in the program, and the career development and planning tools the program provides are meant to be valuable throughout your career.

Our compressed work week schedules and flextime options provide you with the flexibility you need to find the right balance between your work and your personal life.

We emphasize a safe and healthy work environment by providing various programs:
