Our U.S. portfolio is anchored by mature assets concentrated in the Gulf of Mexico, California, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico and the Rocky Mountains. We maintain a U.S. pipeline network of 13,648 net miles of regulated and unregulated pipelines for moving crude oil, natural gas and refined products.
However our work is not focused exclusively on our tangible end-products. Chevron commits to conducting our business in a socially responsible and ethical manner, protecting the environment and benefiting the communities where we work. Proof of this are the awards received by U.S. Upstream during 2006, which include:
- Clean Lease Awards from the California Department of Conservation for the 10th consecutive year for operations on the San Joaquin lease in the Kern River Field;
- Operator of the Year Award for operations in the Lost Hills Field, bestow by the California Bureau of Land Management State Directors;
- Safety Award presented by the Governor of the State of Wyoming Governor for operations at both Carter Creek and the Painter Reservoir Unit.

New Employee Development Program - Horizons
At Chevron we are dedicated to the personal development and growth of our employees, as shown by our commitment to the Horizons New Employee Development Program. All new graduates or graduates with less than two years experience participate in Horizons, a structured five year program.
Through the Horizons program, you’ll develop and hone the skills you learned in university and add a few more through:
- Challenging assignments in various locations
- Mentors to guide your growth
- Formal instruction in the classroom that provide both technical and interpersonal skills training
