The Transportation Planning and Services organization delivers quality rail, truck and airfreight solutions to achieve the best combination of safety, service and cost, thereby providing our business partners with a competitive advantage.

Our primary area of responsibility is for wheel freight including rail and truck activities, with additional focus on express parcel and package delivery. We also provide consulting on proper packaging and documentation for shipments of all commodities including hazardous materials.

The Rail Transportation Services group activities include rail freight contract negotiation, railcar leasing and purchasing, railcar maintenance, fleet tracking and computer systems, and fleet cost accounting. These services are currently utilized by various Chevron business units in transportation of commodities such as LPG, Asphalt, Lubricants, Sulfur, Coke, Wax and Ammonia.

Field Services personnel provide freight contract negotiations for truck transportation of Bulk, Truckload and Less Than Truckload quantities of bulk and packaged materials. Field Representatives co-located in operating facilities across the continental United States administer and coordinate wheel freight activities in facilities for which they are responsible.

Legislative and Regulatory personnel provide advice and consulting services for the United States and international shipment of Hazardous Materials and other commodities. Information is available on regulations, training requirements, hazardous materials classifications, shipping descriptions and package selection.

Express Package and Parcel Delivery services include negotiating and administering the Corporation’s preferred carrier contracts for domestic and international small package delivery services.
