Diversity
Come discover a world of people with a variety of backgrounds, experiences,
styles, cultures, skills and competencies. Share your own unique background
and insights with us as well. Our goal is to create an open, inclusive
work environment where all of our employees can realize their potential.
This commitment is core to our belief system, as expressed in
The Chevron Way.
It's not just the right thing to do — it’s good business
practice. We believe that diversity will help us succeed as a global enterprise.
We seek people who can work effectively with others from all walks of
life and who feel free to contribute their best.
At a global level, we support universal human rights and work to improve the quality of life
in the countries where we operate. Highlights include:
- our commitment to the Global Sullivan Principles;
- our award-winning Supplier Diversity/Small Business Program;
- our contributions, grants and scholarships to diversity programs.
Within Chevron, operating companies and departments have strategies to
build a diverse workforce, including proactive recruiting and outreach
programs, diversity councils, employee networks, personnel development
committees, training, discussion groups and developmental assignments
for employees.
As part of our team, you'll have opportunities to demonstrate your
commitment to diversity:
- Each employee works with his or her
supervisor to create a diversity action plan to show personal development
and help Chevron achieve its diversity objectives. Diversity activities
include things like: participation in employee networks, attending
diversity learning events, mentoring, using assessments to see how
others perceive you and volunteering in activities that increase your
understanding of the differences and similarities among people.
- In employee network groups, employees
collaborate across the company and advance our diversity objectives.
Employee networks are formed based on gender, race, age, national
origin, disability or sexual orientation. Activities include sponsoring
cultural events, participating in community outreach, suggesting ways
to help the company build an inclusive culture and partnering with
other groups, such as Recruiting, Public Affairs and Human Resources,
to advance the company's diversity objectives.
- Employees enjoy cultural events throughout
the year, as well as participate in diversity conferences and lunches
with executives.
