Procurement & Materials Specialist partners with operations and engineering stakeholders to determine needs and procures material and services from Chevron preferred suppliers to support turbine equipment and assets.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Liaises with Supply Chain Management team, CPP project teams, operations, warehouse or material storage locations and suppliers on the purchase and delivery of materials.
Expedites orders as needed.
Receives materials into inventory as needed.
Maintains, develops and implements procedures for adequate inventory levels. Conducts accurate cycle counts.
Supports the investment recovery for utilization and disposition of assets. Coordinates and transacts parts and material to be repaired.
Assists with planning of equipment needs for planned and unplanned outages for all facilities.
Stages material and equipment for outages.
This position requires regular travel within a 60 mile radius of the Bakersfield office on an as needed basis. Potential for additional domestic travel less than 10 percent of the time is possible.
High School degree and in lieu of a Bachelor’s or Associates degree, candidates should have at least three (3) years of progressive supply chain and procurement experience in the industrial products, oil and gas, petrochemical or equivalent industries.
Minimum of three to five years of experience in procurement, materials management, inventory management or warehouse management
Demonstrate excellent organization, business planning and communication skills
Strong orientation to results and achievement while delivering the highest levels of customer service
Demonstrated professionalism and strong influencing skills
Capable of building quality relationships with suppliers
Ability to analyze data, think critically and problem solve
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge regarding new systems and processes
Ability to receive and track inventory
Ability to work independently and be self-directed with minimal supervision.
Capable of driving a forklift or operating warehouse machinery
Fluent in English
Experience supporting electronic sourcing activities
Knowledge of SMART Procurement System, Materials Management/Inventory Control Databases, PowerBI and SAP, or advanced Excel (v-lookups, formulas)
Knowledge of oil and gas/ pipeline/ power generation
External Certifications: APICS, PMP, or equivalent
Exposure to Lean principles, systems, and tools
Relocation will not be considered.
