Digital Commercial Analyst

Position Summary:

Embedded within our shipping commercial team, our Freight Market Analysts have responsibilities that encompass a blend of digital/data science focused work and commercial analytical and performance reporting work. The successful applicant will utilize their skills in analysis, data cleansing, mining, and data visualization, to translate disparate data into useable information and market intelligence in support of the freight team’s commercial activities. 

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Support commercial freight teams with short-term market rate views, market intelligence and fundamentals analysis that informs our trading activities.

• Analyze and model commercial opportunities (time charter, COA, etc).

• Utilize techniques in data cleansing, mining, methods of predictive analysis, and data visualization, to translate complex data into reports and market intelligence.

• Work with other analysts on the global team to drive global consistency and standardization in the development and application of analytical tools and digital solutions.

• Understands and explains commercial business performance versus defined market benchmarks and profit objectives (including development of presentation materials).

Requirements for the role:

• Digital - Digital mindset and innovative thinker with a proven track record of using technology to provide digital solutions, visualizations, process efficiencies, forecasting models, and tools that add commercial value, preferably in a trading environment.

• Critical/Analytic Thinking: ability to synthesize key risk and return considerations underpinning decisions to drive better commercial outcomes. 

• Collaboration and Communication – Excellent interpersonal skills

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (particularly advanced Excel skills, Power BI (including DAX), PowerApps and Power Automate) 

• Experience using tools such as SQL. Python to manage data, automate, analysis and visualize results. 

• Strong time management skills.  

Relocation Options:  

• Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.  

International Considerations:  

• Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
