Chevron’s Finance Development Program (FDP) is an accelerated rotational program for career-minded individuals with leadership potential. As a member of the FDP, you will be part of a select community with a long-standing history of success – you’ll receive strong support from both Program alumni and Finance leaders. On the FDP, you will strengthen your financial skills, make a direct and meaningful impact on the organizations where you work, and interact with all levels of management.

who we hire

We hire people with leadership potential, strong analytical skills and a passion for the energy business. There are three ways to hire onto the FDP - college internships, internal nominations and experienced external hiring – for those employees with 2-5 years prior work experience.

Ideal candidates:

  • Have a superior academic record – and at a minimum hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or economics
  • Have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels and in different functions
  • Are proactive, critical thinkers and problem solvers
  • Are flexible and adapt easily to change

what you'll do

full-time

The FDP is an 18-month program, consisting of three six-month rotational assignments designed to provide a wide-breadth of exposure across the business. These assignments will help you grow your financial skills and knowledge of the energy industry. International assignments may also be available during the 18-month program.

There is no pre-established sequence of assignments. Instead, your path will be designed to broaden your skills and interests as well as reflect Chevron’s business needs and your development areas. Your Program Manager – a FDP alum – will guide you through your time on the Program. Upon completion of the program, members roll-off into a variety of different finance roles across the company.

Rotational assignments could be in any of the following business areas:

  • Corporate Comptroller’s
  • Corporate Treasury
  • Upstream
  • Downstream & Chemicals
  • Finance Shared Services

internship

The FDP Summer Internship is an introduction and a key entry point to our 18-month rotational program. It is structured to allow interns to experience what the full-time program has to offer. The internship will be spent in one assignment over 10-12 weeks at our corporate headquarters in San Ramon, CA. Throughout the summer, interns will have the opportunity to attend trainings, social events, and networking opportunities with program members, alumni and senior Chevron leaders including the CFO.

after the program

The program end is just the beginning of your career at Chevron. After completing the program, you will have knowledge and skills that are in high demand throughout the company. Your future assignments will be shaped by your interests, performance and development areas, as well as Chevron’s evolving business needs.
