About the position:

The ENGINE environmental team lead provides technical environmental support, including compliance and day-to-day support to Chevron operations while supervising a team of environmental specialists. The team of specialists is responsible for managing and delivering air, GHG, waste, and Toxic Release Inventory reporting and analysis for various purposes, such as corporate reporting, external reporting, industry benchmarking, carbon disclosure, and performance metrics. The team lead will provide work direction, resource planning, workload management, prioritization of work, performance management, resolving personnel issues, mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to the environmental specialist team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of environmental specialists and provide technical expertise and guidance on environmental topics such as air, water, waste, greenhouse gas (GHG), wildlife, property transfer, and regulatory compliance. The team is required to stay updated on new legislations, regulations and emerging control technologies, and provide support to business unit for execution

  • Manage environmental regulatory applicability, monitoring, and reporting requirements. The team is responsible for managing and delivering air, GHG, waste, and Toxic Release Inventory reporting and analysis for various purposes, such as corporate reporting, external reporting, industry benchmarking, carbon disclosure, and performance metrics. These responsibilities include delivering quarterly training, managing QA/QC, reviewing SOPs, supporting data quality improvement, preparing data tables and footnotes, and partnering with Legal and Corporate Affairs

  • Provide work direction, resource planning, workload management, prioritization of work, performance management, resolving personnel issues, mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to the Chevron ENGINE Environmental Team

  • Process reports, analyze data and prepare information needed for supported business units to liaise with local, state, and federal agencies for negotiation of permits, settling compliance disputes, and audits

  • Evaluate future technologies to improve environmental performance and compliance. The team supports environmental improvement and innovation initiatives, such as R&D projects, environmental safeguard assurance, environmental risk assessment, environmental strategy development and execution, lower carbon and methane strategies, new energy projects and pilots, and evaluation of future technologies and digital solutions. These initiatives aim to improve environmental performance, mitigate environmental risk, and provide environmental benefits

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute the environmental strategy for supported business units

Required qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Experience working with field personnel and field process experience

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations

  • Experience in developing compliance programs, budgeting, and managing costs
