AEO Formulator, PC/SE Segment
This posting is for a Lubricant Additive Product Development Formulator in Oronite’s Automotive Passenger Car Motor Oil/Small Engine Oil segment.
The formulator develops innovative formulating solutions for automotive engine oils by designing and evaluating experimental data from laboratory (engine and bench) or field tests. The formulator sets up studies on how chemical and physical characteristics of additives impact engine performance and transfer research results into the development of new products. The formulator works with peers and stakeholders to support OEM and customers’ needs.
This position reports to a global team where proactive collaboration with peers across regions is required (US, Japan, Netherlands)

Description:

  • Develop of Passenger Car Motor Oil (PCMO) & small engine additive technology to meet various specifications, customer requirements, and cost & performance targets. 
  • Design and execute testing plans to support product development and fundamental knowledge generation. Recommend new methods and tools for evaluation to gain further insight into a challenge or mechanism
  • Analyze large data sets to extract technical insights and determine testing requirements to make product recommendations. Communicate results and project status to stakeholders of various backgrounds.
  • Work closely with the components team to evaluate alternative chemistry for PCMO applications
  • Generate intellectual property and keep up to date on competitive patenting activities
  • Manages technical projects from planning through implementation. Communicates and collaborates with external suppliers, customers, and with key internal stakeholders.
  • Work with peers and stakeholders from multiple teams to support OEM and customer needs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field. Advanced technical degree preferred
  • Formulating, additive, or lubricant experience
  • Demonstrated R&D capabilities and innovation to solve technical challenges
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for external interactions (OEM, customers) and internal audience in English
  • Data analytical skills and design experiments experience
  • Strong project management and organization
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork in a multicultural global organization

Selection Criteria 2

Technical Skills – Proven track record with the design, execution, and analysis of multi-disciplinary research projects. Knowledge of automotive engine oil standards, industry and OEMs preferred. Experience in data analysis and data visualization for effective communication. Experience in finished lubricants or lubricant additives strongly desired. College degree in a technical field required; advanced degree preferred.

Communication –Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences, both written and verbal. Able to communicate externally with suppliers and customers, and to key internal stakeholders. Ability to provide  work direction and set clear expectations for projects. Fosters cooperation and collaboration among individuals in a global team. Able to work with peers and stakeholders of different cultures and backgrounds.

Selection Criteria 4

Project Management – Demonstrated skill in managing technical projects from planning to final execution of the project, with a strong customer or business focus. Experience working with cross-functional teams critical. Experience working with external customers and internal commercial and technical stakeholders desired. Organizational skills and attention to details a must. Shares information and resources.
