Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Operates and monitors company plants and facilities, monitors process variables, troubleshoots, and performs interventions to maintain operating performance.
Ensures safe work practices and procedures are followed.
Assumes responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.
Manually operates, connecting and disconnecting cargo hoses and load arms on railcars, tank trucks, ships , and barges. Manually transfers chemicals from bags and drums.
Operates manual and automatic valves, meters, pumps, and transfer systems to handle product movement between tanks and process units.
Operates process units utilizing a wide range of control systems and equipment that includes centrifuges, solids transfer systems, refrigeration units, mixers, heat exchangers, pumps, vacuum systems, and filters.
Operates utility systems that include power generation by gas-fired turbines, boilers, air compressors, hot oil units, incinerator furnaces, firewater and cooling water systems, boiler feedwater treatment, and effluent water treatment systems.
Prepares equipment for maintenance activities and handle minor maintenance.
Performs housekeeping duties to maintain a clean work environment and clean equipment such as filters, tanks, exchangers, and other various equipment.
Requires frequent and extended time outdoors in all climates and in proper personal protective equipment.
Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including full-body coveralls, protective footwear, hard hats, hearing protection, eye protection, full-face respirators, and/or self-contained breathing apparatus.
Works at elevated heights with appropriate fall protection and works within confined spaces.
Builds rapport in a teamwork environment and establishes positive working relationships both internally and externally to Chevron.
Grasps complex issues and applies good problem-solving skills to develop recommendations or solutions while looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Able to troubleshoot complex systems and apply good problem-solving skills to develop recommendations/solutions.
Capability to plan and organize own work and adapt to changing priorities or assignments.
Meet customer needs and follow up on requests quickly and efficiently. Uses feedback to monitor and address customer concerns.
Effectively uses computer tools.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Two or more years of manufacturing or industrial-related work experience, or priorMilitary experience, orcompletion of an Associate's or Technical Degree from a Process Technology Program or a related equivalent from an accredited programmay be accepted instead of required work experience.
Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new applications.
Ability and willingness to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, overtime, on-call, and holidays based on assigned work schedule.
Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process.
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Must obtaina valid TWIC before employment.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven record in Safety and Reliability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an Oil and Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, or Chemical facilities inroles such as, but not limited to, Production Operator, Process Technician, Process Operator, Chemical Operator, Distillation Operator, Utility Operator, Process Control Operator, Control Room Operator, Emergency Response, Tank Field Operator, Terminal Operator
Completion of an Associate's or Technical Degree from a Process Technology Program or a related equivalent from an accredited program.
Assessment
As part of the application process, you will be required to take an assessment that measures aptitude and work styles. We recommend you allow approximately—45 minutes to complete the assessment in one sitting. If you need to exit, your progress will be saved.
You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submittal of your application, at which point you will have 72 hours (about 3 days) to complete the online assessment.
Once complete, your assessment score will be valid for 180 days. Should you reapply for another Job Requisition within this timeframe that includes the Operations Assessment, you will be required to complete the application process and then click on the assessment link. This will resubmit your previous results.
