Control System Engineer

The Control Systems Engineer provides technical support for process control systems in complex processing facilities, with a primary focus on alarm management and alarm system performance improvement.
The role is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of alarm systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
This includes working closely with Operations, Engineering, and OE teams to maintain compliance with alarm management standards.
The position plays a key role in ensuring alarm systems effectively support operator response, process safety, and operational excellence.
Delivers assigned work effectively with a strong focus on safety, quality, and reliability.
Uses data, analysis, and engineering judgment to identify issues and drive practical solutions.
Prioritizes tasks effectively to meet commitments and support operational requirements.
Works proactively with stakeholders to remove barriers and achieve timely outcomes
Demonstrates strong commitment to Operational Excellence (OE) and consistently role‑models Chevron Way behaviours in day‑to‑day work.
Encourages reporting of incidents, near misses, and potential non‑compliance, and responds constructively to promote learning and improvement.
Takes ownership and accountability for assigned responsibilities and outcomes.
Communicates clearly and works collaboratively with Operations and Engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering from a recognized AICTE‑approved university.
6–14 years of experience providing control systems engineering support in refinery projects or similar complex hydrocarbon processing facilities.
Hands‑on experience with Honeywell TDC3000 / TPS Experion systems & Yokogawa CENTUM VP, including:
Control logic changes and modifications
Testing and validation of logic changes
Raising, reviewing, and implementing Management of Change (MOC) / change requests
Prior hands‑on experience in alarm management, including understanding of alarm philosophy, alarm performance monitoring, identification of nuisance and bad‑actor alarms, and participation in alarm improvement or rationalization activities in refinery or similar process environments.
Strong troubleshooting capability, with the ability to identify root causes of control system and process issues, analyze failures or deviations, and propose effective and sustainable technical solutions.
TÜV certification in Functional Safety is an added advantage, demonstrating exposure to SIS lifecycle activities, PHA / HAZOP participation, and functional safety standards in refinery or similar process environments
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
