About the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Engineering Lead to join the projects & engineering team. Reporting to the Cost Engineering senior Manager, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key responsibilities
The Cost Engineering Lead is part of the Engineering Services organization within the Chevron ENGINE Center and leads a team that provides cost estimating, planning/scheduling, and project controls services for capital projects or portfolios of projects in upstream and downstream. This role ensures standardized, scalable cost engineering processes, data digitalization, performance measurement, and improvement initiatives. This position actively advocates cost engineering principles, promoting a One Team mentality across multifunctional teams in support of the delivery of competitive, predictable, and realistic cost and schedule performance.
• Lead cost engineering services for upstream and downstream capital projects and small project portfolios.
• Assess and implement cost engineering processes and tools.
• Facilitate performance measurement through benchmarking, KPIs, and project lookbacks.
• Enhance data quality and accuracy by implementing cost engineering digital platforms.
• Align processes with best practices and business needs for continuous improvement.
• Support ENGINE recruiting efforts and establish the Cost Engineering function within ENGINE.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
• Degree in Engineering or Construction Management (B.E./B.Tech.) from a recognized (AICTE) certified university.
• Demonstrated skills in assessment of established cost engineering systems and development of shaping plans for improvements and initiatives.
• Fundamental knowledge of industry trends, lessons learned and best practices.
• 10- 15 years of Cost Engineering experience (estimating, scheduling, cost control, management of change, progress measurement and assessment, forecasting)
• Experience in project execution planning and risk management for capital projects, project management systems and execution of downstream and/or upstream facilities and well programs.
• Supervisory experience.
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain an inclusive work environment. Ability to effectively work in a One Team environment that requires collaboration and influential leadership. Engages, empowers, and inspires others to achieve and grow themselves and others.
Ability to effectively interface, build relationships, and influence other functional groups. Consistently demonstrated strong communication skills (both written and verbal) to keep stakeholders informed and aligned on plans.
Proven ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously while delivering results in cost estimating, forecasting, budgeting, progress tracking, and interfacing with Finance. Balance day-to-day support issues with longer term projects. Identify potential opportunities and work them to completion. Proactive, decisive, accepts accountability.
Demonstrated ability to actively foster a learning culture and help a team or organization change for the better. Champions development and aligns talent to meet business needs. A clear, passionate attitude for growing and developing Cost Engineering capabilities. Able to assess development fit for team members and development assignment experiences. Experienced with performance evaluations and career development. Seeks and provides regular feedback. Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring others.
