
About the position:
Lead will provide guidance and coordination in the authoring and maintenance of safety data sheets (SDS) to ensure compliance with global chemical regulatory requirements.
The Hazard Communication Lead reports to the Occupational Health Team Lead.
Key responsibilities:
Lead team of hazard communication specialists in providing technical support on hazard classification and Safety Data Sheets.
Set metrics and targets to optimize productivity, foster accountability, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Use ADO to track work requests, assign them to team members, track progress and ensure deadlines are met.
Provide guidance and coordination of hazard assessment and classification of chemical product data, including regionally correct advice on labeling and storage requirements.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to verify all sections of the safety data sheet, including but not limited to chemical compositions,human health, environmental, and physical hazard classifications, safe handling recommendations and transport information.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding SDS content, regulatory requirements, and updates.
Provide work direction, resource planning, workload management, prioritization of work, performance management, resolving personnel issues, mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance.
Required Qualifications:
Experience leading teams and projects related to chemical hazard classification, labeling, and regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in science-related related field.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in chemical hazard classification, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Knowledge of software tools to author and revise safety data sheets. Familiarity with transportation regulations (DOT, IATA, IMDG, TDG).
Strong leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and program/project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence internal and external stakeholders.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
