About the position

The I&E Reliability Engineer is a team member of the Reliability and Integrity organization within the Chevron ENGINE Center and provides I&E Reliability Engineering support to Chevron's Refining and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets.   This role conducts the following types of activities. Maintenance Strategy Development through various reliability studies/tools, PM optimization, Refining Maintenance Work Instruction, Threat and Deficiency Process, Technical Query/Procurement Query for instruments, Replace in Kind assessments, Valve Health Monitoring, Performance Standard reviews and updates, maintenance queries and obsolescence review of I&E systems

Key responsibilities

•            Provide reliability  support to instrumentation and electrical assets within Chevron complex process facilities. 

•            Provide technical support on identifying and developing solutions for reliability threats and poor performing instrumentation and electrical assets.

•            Provide analytical support for reliability and integrity programs across the Chevron assets.

•            Support maintenance strategy development and improvement initiatives, develop & optimize maintenance strategies, develop and maintain maintenance procedures & processes, manage technical analysis of threats & procurement queries for instrument & electrical deficiencies, conduct replacement in kind (RIK) assessments, and perform valve health monitoring.

•            Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (such as Operations, Technical, Routine Maintenance, Turnaround and Projects) to achieve the Reliability Engineering Team, department and asset goals to improve asset reliability.

•            Support the facilitation and completion of Chevron reliability studies and capital projects.

•            Supports the implementation of electrical asset strategies to enhance asset and equipment mechanical availability.

•            Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards as well as applicable Chevron standards, instructions, and guidelines.

•            Support turnaround instrumentation and electrical scope development.

•            Supports Management of Change (MOC) process to make instrumentation and electrical system performance, reliability and safety improvements.

•            Facilitate the application and use of reliability tools and work processes to identify gaps, prioritize opportunities, and develop recommendations to improve asset performance and operational availability.

•            Support the investigation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical equipment failures through root cause analysis.

•            Perform reliability analytics using statistical software to help determine probability of failure to prioritize maintenance work, justify spare parts stocking decisions, or develop options for selection of project alternatives.

.  Facilitate and perform different reliability studies like RCM/FMEA for Instrumentation and electrical assets .

About you

•            Experience with Company and industry I&E standard codes, design practices, and engineering standards/specifications in production facilities and field infrastructure.

•            Ability to manage multiple initiatives schedules, manage costs and provide timely reliability recommendations in a fast-paced work environment.

•            Proven Knowledge in: Electrical Power Distribution Systems design, ETAP modeling. Power system analysis, including protective relaying, fast load shedding, etc. Including planning, operations, commissioning, start-up.  and maintenance of medium voltage systems.

•            Proven Knowledge in Power management, load shed systems.  Electrical equipment and electrical system integrity and reliability.

•            Proven knowledge in: Reviewing specifications and preparing datasheets for various power system components, MCCs,  motors, and uninterruptible power systems (UPS).

•            Supporting design engineering during the development phase to ensure design meets safety, reliability, and derating performance targets.

•            Ability to perform Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Failure Modes Effects Analyses (FMEA), Failure Modes Critical Effects Analyses (FMECA), and Fault Trees and performs Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)

•            Proven knowledge in: Identifying and analyzing reliability opportunities, design improvements and oversee implementation in coordination with Operations & Maintenance personnel.

•            Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) reviews of critical or unreliable equipment. Interprets schematics, references component datasheets, and performs circuit analysis and sensitivity analyses on digital, analog, and power designs.

•            Preferred exposure to asset performance management tools such as GE Meridium.

Required Qualifications

•            Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation or electrical engineering (B.E./B.Tech.)  from a deemed/recognized (AICTE approved) university 

•            Minimum of 5-10 years relevant experience performing I&E Reliability Engineering in an Oil & Gas operating environment
