
About the position:
The Machinery Engineer is part of the Materials, Equipment, and Quality team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and provides machinery engineering consulting services to Chevron Business Units and Capital Projects, including joint venture refineries across various pieces of machinery equipment, including but not limited to centrifugal and positive displacement pumping systems, reciprocating compressor systems, and the design of onshore and offshore lifting devices.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides technical support for centrifugal and positive displacement pumping systems, reciprocating compressor systems, and the design of onshore and offshore lifting devices
Consults on pump and mechanical seal selection and performance evaluation
Consults on reciprocating compressor performance evaluation and operational troubleshooting
Reconciles Chevron Engineering Standards requirements versus industry standards and provides work to draft engineering standard revisions
Contributes to Machinery Research & Development projects
Influences and collaborates with customers to solve technical problems with the best risk-based solution
Supports project concept development, scoping, equipment selection, application evaluation, supplier selection, writing specifications, performing bid analysis, designing equipment, facilitating testing, assisting with field startup, performing troubleshooting, using and implementing digital solutions, and leading failure analysis
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized (AICTE) university
Extensive experience in rotating equipment operation, maintenance, system optimization and machinery condition monitoring analysis
Field experience in an operating environment
Extensive knowledge of machinery design theory, sizing, and application to support early concepts engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in an Oil and Gas operating facility
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters or Doctorate)
Vibration Analyst Certification, Level I or II
Experience with Rotodynamic analysis software
Oil & gas or petrochemical experience, or experience working with a machinery fabricator
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
