
About the position:
The Naval Architect is a member of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine Engineering team in the Chevron ENGINE Center.This role is a part of a multidiscipline team of floating system engineers who provide technical services and technology development support to Chevron base businesses and projects.The naval architect provides technical subject matter expertise for floating systems design, fabrication, transportation, installation, and operation.
Key responsibilities:
Provide technical support to both green and brownfield floating system projects, including writing technical specification/guidelines, reviewing technical documents, and providing technical solutions.
Provide base business support to operating assets on system integrity assessment and management.
Perform hand-on calculations and review work by others in the area of stability calculation, global motion calculation, air gap analysis, and mooring analysis, for floating structures both in-situ and during transportation and installation.
Interface and collaborate with other Chevron Technical Center (CTC) and Chevron Shipping functions including floating systems, marine Operations, subsea structures, materials & welding, quality as well as business unit operations and projects teams.
Required Qualifications:
MS in naval architecture or marine engineering from a recognized university.
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards
Demonstrated capability of performing calculation and analysis using marine hydrodynamic software for example Orcaflex, WAMIT, Star CCM+.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 5-yr experience in offshore industry in the naval architecture or marine hydrodynamic areas
• Fluency in using software codes for data processing or integration for example Python and MATLAB.
Field experience in installation, operation or repair/maintenance of offshore platform, marine ships or marine construction vessels
Working knowledge of structural design principals and analytical methods; demonstrated ability to provide technical support of floating facility hull and mooring systems is preferred.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
