OT Cyber Technical Execution Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Turnarounds Planning Integration:
- Integrate cyber hygiene activities into turnaround planning and maintenance windows.
- Provide remote and onsite support as needed for PCN infrastructure upgrades, patching, asset hardening, and network segmentation during scheduled outages.
- Resource Augmentation for Spikes:
- Provide temporary, onsite subject matter expertise during periods of increased cybersecurity workload.
- Assist base business operations teams in implementing and completing change activities without requiring permanent site staff increases.
- Support Unique & On-Demand Initiatives:
- Support technical migrations, incident response improvements, and capital project requirements at the asset level.
- Fill gaps in ownership for specialized cybersecurity efforts, ensuring successful outcomes.
- PCN Advisory:
- Provide subject matter expertise to businesses without a PCN Advisor
- Ensure base business operations teams have consistent long range plans and change agenda.
- PCN Safeguard Acceleration:
- Augment on-site teams for fast-tracked deployment of PCN safeguards, including asset management, endpoint protection, event logging, firewall policies, and vulnerability management.
- Team will support on request IT Ops & Foundation to achieve full coverage and accelerated implementation of cyber defenses.
- Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Work closely with IT Ops & Foundation and Cyber teams, maintaining clear division of responsibilities.
- Mentor regional teams, share knowledge, and propagate best practices across locations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Deep expertise in control systems, associated infrastructure, and site activity framing.
- Experience with Chevron’s business operations and critical infrastructure (preferred for Houston roles).
- Ability to work onsite for several weeks, depending on activity.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with a collaborative approach to working with base business operations teams.
- Willingness to travel and adapt to dynamic requirements.
Organizational Structure & Reporting
- Report to the Manager, OT Cybersecurity.
- Collaborate with other technical execution engineers, PMO, and regional SME teams (Houston, Bengaluru).
- Support cross-functional alignment with TPE-FE, ITOF, architects, and OT cyber engineers.
Candidate Selection Criteria
- OT/IACS Experience: Candidates must have deep expertise in OT/IACS systems, including infrastructure, network security, applications, and databases, with the ability to implement secure interconnections using Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture and IEC 62443 frameworks. Experience with IIoT system design and distinctions from traditional IACS systems is also required.
- Cybersecurity Expertise: Applicants should demonstrate knowledge across multiple OT cybersecurity domains, applying risk-based approaches and standards such as NIST and IEC 62443. They must be capable of implementing OT cybersecurity tools and performing operational assurance reviews to enhance OT cyber resiliency
- Network Security Design Skills: Candidates need experience in network security technologies and architectures tailored for OT/IACS systems, including implementation of secure-by-design methodologies, Purdue model networking protocols and segmentation tools like firewalls and data diodes.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence diverse teams and stakeholders are essential. Candidates should foster inclusive environments, mentor others in OT security, and communicate effectively across organizational levels.
Preferred qualifications / certifications
- Certifications in Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity or in IT Cybersecurity are highly preferred (e.g., GISCP, GCIP, CISSP, or other similar certification)
- Vendor-specific training on Operational Technology, IACS equipment manufacturers and internal network systems are highly preferred.
Required work experience
- Minimum 5 years related work experience in Operational Technology/Industrial Controls Systems Cybersecurity field with increasing levels of responsibility.
- “Hands-On” experience with OT/IACS critical infrastructure in energy or similar industries.

- Positions available in Houston (Americas coverage, mentorship), and Bengaluru (non-Americas coverage).

- Budget and resource allocation managed under the OT Cybersecurity Manager.
