Job Description

Network Business- DDI & LB Solution Architect

The Chevron ENGINE - Network Business – DDI & LB Solution Architect for Network Product Line. The DDI & LB Solution Architect is responsible for consulting, designing, and deploying networking technologies and solutions for the entire enterprise and for business partners. As a team member, you will use your deep infrastructure experience and network knowledge to serve as subject matter expert and project consultant to improve or introduce network capabilities that drives business capabilities while protecting Chevron from external and internal threats. You will work closely with architects, business partners, managed service partners, vendors, cybersecurity, cross infrastructure, and digital platforms to solve difficult, rapidly changing technical challenges. Where new technologies are introduced, the Engineer will work closely with the Operations team to successfully transition.

The DDI&LB Solution Architect is a key member of the Network Product Line responsible for supporting the entire Global Enterprise’s Domain Name Services, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocols, Internet Protocol Address Management Systems and Load Balancer Technologies, ensuring cost competitive, reliable, and secure operations of Chevron's Network environment globally while also enabling digital capabilities. A secondary area of ownership is F5 and network hardware level Certificates.

Your primary responsibility is setting strategic direction, prioritization, and delivery excellence for the Network Product Lines; ensuring team members are delivering against priorities, technical debt elimination, product vision, roadmaps, developing solutions, CDAS, partnering with the PO’s, Enterprise Architecture and DevOps teams on BU features and capabilities.

Other responsibilities include partnering and educating the Network Managed Service globally and partnering with the chapter leads to help shape the skills needed for both Business Network and the Industrial Network Products.  

About the position

Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Network Business – DDI & LB Solution Architect to join the Information Technology team. Reporting to the Infrastructure and Operations Manager, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • As a Solution Architect, you will: Design, implement, and maintain business and industrial communication solutions to solve business problems and provide value to a wide variety of business functions. Participate in the design, implementation and troubleshooting of our network infrastructure. Gather requirements and interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders to design and engineer our network infrastructure to support Network products. Create technical design documentation and implementation/test plans. Provide comprehensive tier-3 support for the operational teams, this includes working with and coordinating vendors and service providers. Interact with global peers within the network design, operation and across other support teams to support change implementations and solve challenging escalated problems. Implement and maintain processes, procedures and associated plans for network infrastructure including administration, usage, and disaster recovery Use ticketing and change management systems to track incidents and changes. Participate in BCP and DRP events and exercises as part of a team supporting the overall network and business environment.
  • Develops and implements solutions and processes to maintain the reliability, effectiveness, and efficiency of network security infrastructure components across the enterprise and associated process control environments.
  • Works with project managers, team members, architects, business units and other stakeholders to create agile solutions, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, creating new or improved processes and automation to support step changes in operational efficiencies.
  • Leads, provides subject matter expertise, and collaborates extensively with other IT asset SMEs in design, deployment, and implementation of network security solutions by utilizing next generation security technologies and improving frameworks for controls and policies.
  • Collaborates with global business units to design and deploy network security solutions suited to their unique environments.
  • Analyzes network security needs and designs solutions that meet business requirements for protection, standardization, efficiency, scalability, supportability, and cost-effectiveness. Contributes to lifecycle activities.
  • Transitions developed solutions to operations, including delivery of educational and training programs, and continues to provide Level 3 support. Collaborates with others to communicate change impacts to end users.
  • Follows standard change management processes and practices when introducing technical changes to the environment.
  • Develops and shares best practices with other teams.

  • To be considered for this role, applicants should have: Requires a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  •  Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience network engineering and wireless communications.
  •  Design and implement end-to-end solutions in the DDI & LB area tailored to the oil and gas industry.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints, solution designs, and technical documentation.
  • Lead the integration of various systems and applications, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle. Mentor and guide junior architects and engineers. Conduct regular reviews and audits of existing solutions to identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge.
  • Develop and present proof of concepts to demonstrate the feasibility of proposed solutions.

  • The role encompasses a wide range of skills. It involves providing design, architecture and consulting for Global Enterprise’s Domain Name Services, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocols, Internet Protocol Address Management Systems and Load Balancer Technologies, ensuring cost competitive, reliable, and secure operations of Chevron's Network environment globally while also enabling digital capabilities. Products managed include all Business Network Infrastructure Products and Services globally including Name Servers, Name Caching Servers, Active Directory Sites and Services, DNS Root, All Enterprise Subnets and their distribution Globally via IPAM Solutions such as TCPWave, BlueCat, and InfoBlox. As the DDI&LB Product Owner you will also help manage and direct all Extranet Subnet Allocations, WAN Subnet Allocations, BU Network Subnet Allocations, VRF Management, Data Center IP Topology, BigIP F5 Load Balancer Technology and future state Load Balancing Technologies, as well as Security Services and Life Cycle Management. A secondary area of ownership is F5 and network hardware level Certificates.
