About the position:
The Tax Manager role is responsible for the handling of all direct and indirect tax-related matters of ENGINE (including, income tax and transfer pricing, GST, and withholding tax) by providing support and assistance on all tax issues or concerns in coordination with Chevron’s regional and/or corporate tax offices. The role is also responsible for managing tax compliance, optimizing tax strategies, and overseeing internal and external audit engagements. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the ENGINE Finance and Tax Head, while working closely with leadership team members, other centralized service centers, Tax Planners, and Corporate Tax.
Key Responsibilities
Works closely with the Finance and Tax Head, by serving as the primary tax consultant and manager of tax compliance responsibilities of ENGINE
Oversees accurate and timely preparation, payment and filing of all tax returns
Manages timely filing of all tax claims and refunds, any inquiries, audits and notices, and assessments from tax authorities
Ensures proper submission of required tax reports to local, regional and/or corporate management, government agencies and other external parties
Coordinates with Management Accounting for year-end tax accruals and probable tax liabilities
Ensures Tax is compliant with external and internal control and compliance procedures
Maintains good working relations and liaising, when necessary, with appropriate government agencies and other external parties relative to tax compliance and advancing the business interest of ENGINE
Regular and timely communication with leadership team members, Tax Planners and Corporate Tax regarding proposed changes to tax laws or regulations that potentially impact ENGINE
Develops, analyzes, and implements tax planning initiatives/strategies for ENGINE aligned with Chevron policies and external regulations, coordinating local tax planning with regional and corporate initiatives/strategies
Develop the tax control framework and processes to drive accuracy and efficiency in direct tax compliance
Review of contracts/agreements, to ensure appropriate tax items/issues have been considered and in compliance with applicable law and Chevron policies
Required Qualifications:
8-10 years minimum of tax related experience (compliance, advisory, planning, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Prior work for an international accounting firm or another multi-national enterprise is preferred
A Graduate degree in business or accounting (with emphasis in tax) is preferred
CA or CPA certification is preferred
Experience in working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JDE) is preferred
