The Technical Safety Engineering Lead is part of the Facilities Process Engineering organization within the Chevron ENGINE center.This role is responsible for overseeing and guiding the technical safety engineering team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves developing and implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, flare and relief design, fire and gas design. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement in process safety practices.
Lead the technical safety engineering team in the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical safety standards and procedures.
Conduct and review safety risk assessments and hazard analyses
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate process safety requirements into project plans and designs.
Monitor process safety performance metrics and drive initiatives for continuous improvement.
Prepare process safety documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Act as a subject matter expert on technical safety issues, providing guidance and support to teams across the organization.
Participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Required Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical discipline.
Strong knowledge of technical safety engineering principles, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing teams or projects.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in safety management software and relevant engineering tools.
Ability to analyze complex safety issues and develop effective solutions.
Preferred Qualification:
10+years of experience in technical safety engineering within industrial, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Chartered Engineer, or equivalent.
Experience in process safety, HAZOP, LOPA, or similar methodologies.
Familiarity with international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, IEC 61508).
Previous experience in leading safety initiatives for large-scale projects or organizations.
Advanced problem-solving and strategic planning abilities.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
