Job Description – xECM (OpenText Extended ECM) Consultant / Engineer
Role Overview
The xECM Consultant/Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting OpenText Extended ECM (xECM) solutions across enterprise platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Documentum, and other business systems. This role ensures seamless content-services integration with business processes, high performance of workspaces, and adherence to enterprise information architecture and standards.
You will collaborate with product owners, functional analysts, SAP teams, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant ECM capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. xECM Solution Design & Development
- Design and implement xECM-based solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
- Develop and maintain xECM Functional Modules for SAP integration.
- Build and configure xECM Business Workspaces.
- Work on detailed design for document linking and metadata exchange.
2. Integration with SAP, Documentum & Azure
- Integrate xECM with SAP MDG, SAP S/4HANA and Documentum.
- Manage OTDS user/group synchronization and role mapping.
- Design and extend REST APIs for system integrations.
3. Documentum D2 – Job Responsibilities
- Provide functional and operational support for Documentum D2 applications integrated with xECM.
- Configure and maintain D2 document types, metadata attributes, lifecycles, and folder structures in alignment with enterprise ECM standards.
- Support document creation, versioning, lifecycle transitions, and retention policies within D2.
- Troubleshoot D2-related issues including metadata synchronization, access control, and lifecycle failures.
- Coordinate with platform or vendor teams for advanced D2 configurations, defect resolution, and upgrades.
- Ensure D2 implementations comply with information governance, records management, and security policies.
- Support impact analysis and regression testing for D2 changes affecting xECM integrations.
4. Platform Support & Operations
- Support workspace creation processes involving event handlers, queues, and background jobs.
- Troubleshoot issues related to metadata propagation and workspace lifecycle.
- Review and enhance technical and functional designs.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
- Align business processes with xECM capabilities.
- Support demos, workshops, and POCs.
- Ensure compliance with information protection standards.
Required Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with OpenText xECM, Documentum, and D2.
- Experience with SAP MDG and SAP S/4HANA integration.
- Proficiency in REST APIs.
- Understanding of metadata models and content lifecycle.
- Knowledge of Azure, Kubernetes, and cloud deployments.
Teamwork & Communication
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively work in a team environment, can work across functions to verify requirements and align on business objectives.
- Demonstrates influential leadership through ability in driving product design and architecture, and adherence to IT engineering standards and architecture maturity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates the ability to effectively work asynchronously across time zones.
- Strong track record of keeping up to date with industry trends. Experience with the growth of others’ capabilities.
Business Acumen:
- Demonstrated experience in understanding of Concurrent Engineering and Management of Change processes.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly gain knowledge in business domains, data, workflows and processes
- Experience translating business objectives and goals into technical solutions.
