GBS Chevron Global Business Services (GBS), located in Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero), Argentina, is accepting applications for the position of Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Automation & Observability. Successful candidates will join the IT Organization, which is part of a multifunction service and technical center with a workforce of more than 1800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Automation & Observability will design, implement, and operate reliability engineering capabilities across OT/PCN (Process Control Network) environments. This role focuses on improving system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency by leveraging automation, observability, and SRE practices.

The engineer will partner with product owners, platform teams, and technical leads to define and enforce service reliability standards (SLIs/SLOs), build scalable observability capabilities, and integrate automation workflows with ServiceNow ITSM processes.

This role is critical to advancing the Automation & Observability platform by reducing operational toil, enabling proactive operations, and scaling reusable automation across environments. The position requires close collaboration with global teams and vendor partners to drive adoption of engineering-driven operations and continuous reliability improvement across critical OT systems.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to

  • Define and implement SRE practices, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, to improve service reliability.
  • Build and standardize observability capabilities across metrics, logs, and traces, including dashboards and alerting strategies.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) to automate deployment, validation, and operational workflows.
  • Integrate monitoring and observability signals with ServiceNow ITSM (incidents, changes, indicator tasks).
  • Design and enable reusable automation components (e.g., pipelines, roles, validation frameworks) to scale use cases.
  • Operate within OT/PCN environments, adhering to security, segmentation, and compliance standards.
  • Leverage telemetry from infrastructure and compliance platforms (e.g., SolarWinds) to improve operational visibility.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and vendor partners in Agile ceremonies and technical working sessions.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational guides.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience operating production systems with a strong focus on observability and reliability engineering
  • Hands-on experience with SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management).
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps).
  • Experience integrating monitoring and operations with ServiceNow ITSM workflows.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and/or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces, alerting, correlation).
  • Experience working in complex or regulated environments, preferably OT/PCN.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial or OT environments (oil and gas, utilities, manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds or similar observability and compliance platforms.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Service Mapping, CMDB, or automation integrations.
  • Exposure to automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible) and reusable design patterns.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (e.g., CIS, NIST, ISA/IEC 62443).
  • Experience working in Agile delivery models with backlog-driven development.
