INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEWS

Laboratory:

Target group: Undergraduates/ Graduates in Engineering and Sciences

Our products are manufactured in a state-of-the-art ISO 9001-2015 certified manufacturing facility. Frequent product testing and validation forms and integral part of our product quality and integrity. Our Chemists and Laboratory Leads provide expertise in batch testing, random sample testing, responding to customer inquiries and liaising with our regional laboratories in testing blends for product upgrades. Interns will:

  • work with the Management Representative on liaising wit international certification bodies on maintaining our quality certification requirements.
  • support the Lab team with hand blends and multiple other testing requirements to meet stakeholder needs.
  • ensures tests are done in compliance with standard test methods (ASTM, IP, SM). Implement changes in existing test methods under the supervision of Chemists.
  • gain practical experience using state-of-the-art instrumentation and lab equipment. Learn to read, interpret, and record results of such instrumentation.

Manufacturing:

Target group: Undergraduates/ Graduates in Engineering and Sciences

The manufacture of lubricants involves mixing of base oils (crude oil) with additives and other components in accordance with Chevron’s Blending process. At our fully automated manufacturing facility you will witness our products being manufactured into barrels, cans and packs of different measures and weights using automated distribution control systems. Reliability is a key measure of our manufacturing process success. Interns will:

  • Acquire knowledge on numerous activities that form our manufacturing value chain.
  • Support Production teams measure production processes against key Operational Excellence measures.
  • Support with tracking KPIs and report to relevant stakeholders for key decision making.

Reliability and Maintenance:

Target group: Undergraduates/ Graduates in Engineering, Design and Manufacturing Technology

The Maintenance Function is responsible for reliable and e­fficient operations at our manufacturing plant, finished goods warehouse and Base Oil terminal in compliance with Chevron’s Tenants of Operation and ISO Quality requirements. A key focus area is to maintain an injury free Maintenance function by mobilizing both in-house and external maintenance service providers to carry out routine maintenance activities on plant equipment and instrumentation. Interns will :

  • Acquire knowledge on the overall lubricant filling and blending processes.
  • Identify and monitor reliability KPIs and matrixes.
  • Familiarize with relevant maintenance tools and systems.
  • Observe/ support routine preventative maintenance activities.

Technology :

Target group : Undergraduates/ Graduates in Engineering and Sciences

Our Technology team works with Manufacturing and Sales & Marketing Teams to provide fit-for-purpose lubrication solutions for industries, handle customer queries on correct applications and product performance and function as a subject matter expert in imparting lubrication knowledge across the value chain in close collaboration with Chevron Technical Experts. Interns will :

  • Undergo basic product line introduction training.
  • Acquire basic knowledge of formulations and testing relevant to the lubricant industry.
  • Partner with technical team on imparting knowledge to key opinion leaders on Chevron’s technical value proposition.

Business Support:

Target group: Undergraduates/ Graduates in Finance, Statistics and Business Management

Our Business Support team provide critical data support for key business planning, pricing, and deal management activities. This involves working with multiple MIS systems and ensuring that the end-to-end customer contract management process is managed as per contracting guidelines. Interns will :

  • support entering basic data with accuracy on standard contract templates.
  • ensure that the relevant compliance verbiage is embedded.
  • ensure that contracts are entered on relevant databases and are tracked for renewal in a timely fashion.

Finance:

Target group: Undergraduates/ Graduates in Finance, Statistics and Business Management

The Finance function is responsible for financial forecasting/budgeting/cash flow planning and other assigned finance tasks. Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC (CLLP) is a listed entity on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) with our parent company Chevron Corporation being a New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) listed entity. Interns will have a valuable opportunity to experience the inner workings of a dynamic multinational Finance operation with specific focus on OPEX (Operational Expenditure) tracking, analysis and report out for decision making.
