The Information Risk Strategy & Management organization is seeking a highly experienced Digital Forensic Investigator to support complex digital forensic and investigative matters, with a primary focus on data exfiltration, insider threat, and sensitive internal investigations. This role conducts end-to-end forensic investigations involving computers, mobile devices, cloud platforms, and enterprise data sources, and partners closely with Legal, HR, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and external counsel.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical forensic expertise, strong investigative judgment, and experience presenting defensible findings in corporate or criminal investigative contexts. The role requires independence, discretion, and the ability to handle highly sensitive matters while mentoring others and contributing to forensic program maturity.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Conduct impartial digital forensic investigations involving data exfiltration, insider threat, intellectual property theft, policy violations, and security incidents.
Perform forensic acquisition, preservation, examination, and analysis of electronically stored information (ESI) across endpoints, mobile devices, cloud, email, collaboration platforms, and network-based sources.
Lead investigations from intake through final reporting, ensuring evidentiary integrity and defensibility.
Identify indicators of data misuse, unauthorized access, and exfiltration techniques.
Prepare clear, concise forensic reports suitable for executive leadership, Legal, HR, regulators, law enforcement, or external counsel.
Partner with Cybersecurity, Global Security, Legal, Privacy, and HR teams during sensitive investigations.
Provide expert consultation during litigation, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews.
Maintain strict chain of custody and evidence handling standards.
Mentor junior investigators and contribute to forensic process improvement and documentation.
Stay current on forensic methodologies, tools, and emerging data exfiltration techniques.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of hands-on digital forensics experience conducting both forensic collection and analysis.
Minimum 5 years of lead investigative experience, criminal or corporate, with demonstrated case ownership.
Proven experience investigating data exfiltration, insider threat, intellectual property theft, or misuse of corporate data.
Current forensic certifications and formal forensic training required (examples include but are not limited to GCFE, GCFA, CFCE, EnCE, CCE, MCFE).
Strong working knowledge of:
Windows, macOS, Linux operating systems
Mobile device forensics (iOS, Android)
Cloud and SaaS data sources (e.g., email, collaboration platforms, cloud storage)
Experience handling restricted, confidential, or legally sensitive information.
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated professionalism, objectivity, and discretion in investigative matters.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
10+ years combined experience in digital forensics and investigations
Experience supporting corporate investigations, eDiscovery, or regulatory matters
Experience working with Legal and external counsel
Prior testimony or affidavit experience
Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
Experience mentoring or training forensic analysts
Familiarity with forensic readiness, insider threat programs, or DLP technologies.
