The Global Security Advisor, Protection Operations and Planning, provides program support for the entire Protection Services group. This advisor will develop standardized tools and guidance for the executive protection, event security, threat investigation and protective intel functions of the group, ensuring that it is aligned with other Global Security requirements and practices.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Develop risk assessment tools for events and executive protection purposes
  • Establish Executive Protection protocols for managing the personal and digital security of Chevron’s executives and Board members.
  • Develop procedures for securing events with a Chevron nexus
  • Formalize residential security practices for executives
  • Create and maintain risk assessment tools used for executive protection and event security
  • Create and maintain libraries of risk mitigation tools and tactics for executive protection and event security
  • Assist Executive Protection manager in developing training requirements, materials and completion tracking methods for teams
  • Develop protocols for threat investigations and reporting templates
  • Develop templates used by protective intel advisors and analysts for analytical work products, as well as event security templates used by event and executive protection advisors
  • Leverages best practices and industry standards to develop policies, procedures, tactics and materials as it relates to executive protection and event security
  • Works closely with Strategic Planning, Global Security Information Center, Geopolitical Risk Analysis and Business Services teams to coordinate sharing of information and tools using established Global Security processes when possible
  • Incorporates event and investigation learnings into proactive procedures or tactics to mitigate future risks
  • Develop materials and deliver training to Global Security and security function across Chevron on areas of executive protection, event security and protective intelligence
  • Maintain knowledge of techniques, tactics and procedures used by disruptive entities, regardless of target, and incorporate these learnings into Chevron security protocols
  • Liaisons with industry peers, government officials, third party subject matter experts and vendors to stay abreast of latest threats and share information

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years experience conducting complex investigations, particularly involving threats or disruptive behaviors
  • 5-10 years experience planning and executing security plans at events and for executive protection, including conducting risk assessments
  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject
  • Knowledge of the intelligence cycle, including analytic methodologies and techniques
  • Experience with social media and OSINT research and investigation tools
  • Demonstrated history of teamwork, ethical decision making and excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with cross functional teams, peers and management at various levels 
  • Strong interest in current events and world affairs 
  • Experience with diverse cultures and backgrounds, especially in support of business operations in non-US locations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, especially in preparing procedures and learning materials
  • Project management skills; Ability to perform multiple projects and support multiple people simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Experience with diverse cultures and backgrounds, especially in support of business operations in non-US locations
  • Critical thinking skills and problem-solving aptitude; Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately, then assess and evaluate effectively
  • Domestic and international travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in related subject
  • International business or government experience
  • Experience with training and curriculum development
