Chevron Venezuela is accepting online applications for the position of Electrical Engineer Operations located in Maracaibo.

Electrical Operations Engineer – Power Generation Specialist with deep expertise in LM6000PC gas turbines and turbogenerators. Focused on operational reliability, condition monitoring, and performance optimization through vibration analysis, borescope inspections, and advanced trending. Proven ability to minimize production impacts during failures while ensuring strict compliance with safety standards and operational excellence.

Power Generation Operations & Reliability

  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of LM6000PC gas turbines and turbogenerators.

  • Support daily operational decisions to maximize availability, efficiency, and production continuity.

  • Improve operational visibility and control through enhancements to Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) within turbine and BOP systems.

  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for forced outages, derates, and abnormal operating conditions.

  • Perform trend analysis and failure diagnostics to optimize reliability and reduce response times during critical operational events.

Condition Monitoring & Rotating Equipment Diagnostics

  • Perform vibration analysis on rotating equipment and interpret results to detect early-stage degradation.

  • Support predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies for gas turbines, generators, and auxiliaries.

  • Define alarm limits and operating thresholds based on OEM recommendations and field experience.

Operational Data Analysis & Trending

  • Analyze operational trends of LM6000PC turbogenerators (load, temperature spreads, vibration, performance indicators).

  • Configure and optimize trend monitoring systems to detect deviations and emerging risks.

  • Acquire, issue, and report operational KPIs for turbine performance to support accurate decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide technical input to improve reliability and operational decision-making through data-driven insights.

Inspection & Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Oversight

  • Lead and/or support borescope inspections of LM6000PC gas turbines, including interpretation of findings and recommendations.

  • Perform and analyze thermographic inspections on electrical systems and mechanical components.

  • Apply ultrasound inspection techniques for electrical and process systems to detect anomalies (arcing, leaks, insulation issues).

Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Provide technical support for maintenance planning, execution, and troubleshooting of power generation assets.

  • Interface with OEMs and service providers for inspections, repairs, and upgrades.

  • Execute technical estimation and validation of critical spare parts and consumables to ensure inventory availability for operational continuity.

  • Review and validate maintenance strategies in line with reliability and asset management objectives.

Safety, Procedures & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all activities are executed in full compliance with Chevron safety standards and Life Saving Rules.

  • Support the development and improvement of operating procedures, technical standards, and best practices.

  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and risk reduction.
