The Lead Materials Specialist - Texas/New Mexico Regions will provide expertise in managing the safe receipt, preservation, storage, staging, movement, and tracking of goods and materials in accordance with company requirements. This role supports a regional warehouse and field-facing materials network across Texas and New Mexico, which roll under the Shale & Tight Business (S&TB), and will report to the Team Lead, Materials Management for S&TB. The role is accountable for overseeing third-party warehouse operations, driving operational performance, and ensuring materials management and warehouse operations processes are executed consistently, safely, efficiently, and in a compliant manner. The role will require excellent stakeholder management, collaborative partnership skills, and strong teaming across regional operations, internal support functions, and third-party warehouse partners.

  • Provide end-to-end materials management oversight in support of Texas/New Mexico operations within the Shale & Tight Business. This important role supports materials management process fluency and advisement to cross-functional stakeholder groups including Field Execution, Operations, Technical Teams, Central Maintenance, Facilities Engineering, and Construction. The role requires a strong focus on safety, material planning, inventory and critical parts management, supplier relations, third-party warehouse operations performance, and reliable execution through SAP S/4HANA.
  • Supports stakeholders and plays a key role in providing related guidance, developing material strategies, and implementing process improvements that enable cost-effective and reliable supply to end users. This includes leveraging data and analytics to identify performance trends, generate actionable insights, drive business value, improve 3P warehouse performance, and provide strategic support to optimize materials processes in collaboration with category management, procurement, logistics, and operations partners.
  • Monitor and influence third-party warehouse performance through KPI review, issue escalation, corrective action tracking, and regular engagement with warehouse leadership and regional stakeholders. Provide day-to-day functional oversight of third-party warehouse execution, including performance routines, escalation management, compliance expectations, and continuous improvement follow-through.
  • Support optimal inventory availability, monitor inventory turns, action slow-moving and obsolete items, and mitigate stock-out scenarios. Requires strong SAP S/4HANA proficiency, sound data discipline, collaboration with Maintenance & Operations stakeholders, coordination with SCM colleagues, and close partnership with third-party warehouse providers to drive performance and sustain process compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement, simplification, and strategic initiatives/projects. Partner with Materials Management colleagues across other S&TB regions, asset classes, the Procurement Materials Management (PMM) Centre of Excellence, and the Permian third-party warehouse operator to strengthen OE awareness, align on training requirements, promote adoption of standard work and best practices, advance standardization, reduce process variation, and simplify ways of working across the asset class.
  • Reinforce operational control expectations, OE safeguards, training compliance, and safe work execution across warehouse and field-facing materials management activities.
  • The individual must be a self-starter with the ability to identify performance gaps, work collaboratively across functions and external partners, influence without direct authority, and drive actions to closure.
  • Travel to warehouse locations, field operating locations, and third-party yards is required on a regular basis.

Required qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Candidates with significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred 7-10 years of experience in materials management, warehouse operations, inventory management, supply chain, maintenance support, or related operational disciplines.
  • Experience supporting field operations and working with cross-functional stakeholders in operations, maintenance, planning, procurement, logistics, or supply chain environments.
