Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Air Specialist - HSEthrough 5/12/2026 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).  

This role supports North Dakota operations by providing air permitting and air compliance technical expertise. Responsibilities include preparation and review of air permit applications, as well as support for state and federal air quality inspections, data requests, and regulatory inquiries. The position also supports the development and enhancement of air compliance management tools that integrate state and federal air permitting, emissions estimation, and reporting requirements, and assists with emissions mitigation initiatives.

A strong understanding of North Dakota and federal air regulations is required to effectively advise operations and construction teams and to support sustained regulatory compliance.

Air Permitting and Compliance

  • Minor and major source air permitting under North Dakota and federal programs, including application preparation, updates, reporting, and ongoing compliance support.

  • Applicability determinations and compliance support for NSPS and MACT standards applicable to oil and gas operations.

  • Implementation of new and revised North Dakota and federal air regulations in coordination with corporate and technical advisory teams.

Regulatory Programs and Reporting

  • NSPS OOOO/OOOOa/OOOOc/OOOOb compliance support and reporting.

  • EPA Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting.

  • Annual air emissions inventory reporting.

  • Emissions estimation (including potential to emit calculations) and supporting documentation for permitting and reporting.

Technology and Monitoring Support

  • Support deployment and use of advanced methane detection and measurement technologies, such as continuous emissions monitoring systems and LiDAR flyovers.

Agency and Internal Support

  • Support record requests, inspections, audits, and enforcement-related inquiries from state and federal agencies (e.g., North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)).

  • Ensure adherence to internal accounting protocols, data quality standards, and reporting procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in air permitting and regulatory compliance.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • 10 years of experience in oil and gas air permitting and compliance, preferably in North Dakota or similar regulatory environments.

  • Advanced proficiency with:

    • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

    • Power BI

    • Copilot

    • Emissions and compliance tools (e.g., Cority, ACTs, ProMax, Power Query, Power Apps).

Relocation Options:

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
