Responsibilities for this position include by are not limited to:

  • Attend workovers to inspect/witness equipment coming out of hole to assist in mid-job decision making
  • Observe subsurface related tasks/procedures and assure all work performed adheres to Chevron’s Operational Excellence standard and regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with Field Specialists and ALCRs to optimize artificial lift, including run times and cycle time management
  • Assisting IOC Subsurface Specialists in troubleshooting Rod Pumps
  • Responsible for killing wells
  • Rod Pump Optimization including POC/VFD adjustments and resolving alarms from IOC, on unit adjustments by vendors
  • Conduct PSSRs on all well conversions
  • Assist ALCR in managing Rod Pump unit installations
  • Responsible for on site supervision of corrective water or flowline acid flushes
  • Support Field Coordinator, Technology position with Production support operations when needed.
  • Actively support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices as described in the MCBU Safe Practice Manual, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event
  • Rigorous participation in the JSA, PTW (Permit to Work) and SWA (Stop Work Authority)


Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate commitment to Chevron Way Values and We Lead Behaviors
  • Strong knowledge and extensive application of Managing Safe Work standards and permitting
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, overtime based on workload
  • Must be willing to work a 9/80 work schedule
  • Must live within 50 miles of a Chevron ND office location or be willing to relocate and possess a valid driver's license
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), and the ability to understand new software packages
  • Proficiency in artificial lift and field surveillance software systems (XSPOC, TAM, WellView, etc.)
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process
  • 2 years of current oil and gas or related experience
  • Must be able to work independently with at times minimal support
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a diverse team


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree of Applied Science in Petroleum Technology, Process Technology or related technology is a plus but not necessary.  
  • Four plus years’ current operations experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries, including experience with regulations and the maintenance and testing requirements associated with related safety devices. 
  • Ability to interpret dynamometer cards and/or production trend analysis where applicable. 
  • In-depth understanding of injection and/or producing well equipment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain and optimize pump off controllers where applicable. 
  • Advanced ability to conduct dynamometer analyses, fluid levels, and other onsite well diagnostics. 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze surface/subsurface problems and develop effective solutions. 
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize rod pump, gas lift, and electronic submersible pump systems. 
  • Broad knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and maintain major oil and gas production facility process systems including mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and production equipment. 
  • Ability to manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Bakken Basin experience
