Senior Laboratory Technician

Support new product & component commercialization, non-routine analysis, shelf-life management, laboratory hand blend study, package quality control and assurance, MOC execution, assist Instrument and QC Chemist

• Always maintain the safe operation in the QC Laboratory
• Oversee and manage on the test priorities, ensure timely analytical support to the Operation team and work toward achieving laboratory goals
• Manage requalified samples testing and work with QA to support product shelf-life management
• Conduct RBS (Regional Blend Study) and coordinate P&C (Physical and Chemical) test to support new product commercialization
• Conduct compatibility test to verify component or product interaction to support recipe set up and Blend Cycle Time improvement
• Conduct work-off blend studies and non-routine analysis to support plant operation, this includes work-off studies required by NAR team for clearing off-spec inbound materials
• Conduct blend studies to support customer quality complaints investigation
• Quality control and assurance on package with QA and Operation team: empty ISO tank, drum
• Liaison with 3rd party lab for external testing
• Assist Instrument Chemist to develop new testing methods, these methods cover new project relevant raw materials, intermediate, finished product and waste
• Assist Instrument Chemist to manage instrument calibration, troubleshooting and internal &external Prevention Maintenance
• Assist Chemist QC, Process Engineer to conduct quality incident investigation and perform non-routine analysis to secure product/component quality
• Execute laboratory MOC (management of change) to improve efficiency

Support routine analysis and LIMS operations

• Conduct testing of raw materials, intermediates, components and finished products
• Keep up to date knowledge on the test methods and calibration procedures to assure accuracy of results
• Take an active role in the Lab and work toward achieving the Lab’s annual goals
• Able generate lab QC, lab SMC, plant QC and customer SPC charts in LIMS and correlates the test data’s in comply with operational changes
• Enter test data in LIMS and SAP, ensure that the data they are verified
• Systemic approve components in storage tanks for plant use
• Raise LIMS/SAP Tickets and work with the GSG (Global Solution Group) to resolve issues on StarLIMS/SAP issues   
• Take part in the plant commissioning and start-up, including the procedure and testing plan

Support continuous improvement

• Perform SPC analysis of test results to determine root cause and develop improvement ideas
• Reduce analytical variation.
• Develop ideas to reduce number of tests and to improve the lab’s operation.
• Practice High Performance Organization concepts at work.
• Practice the best housekeeping of the laboratory.
• Maintain and trouble shoot analytical equipment

Support troubleshooting

• Diagnose the bad analytical test outputs and trouble shoot analytical equipment to rectify the problem(s).
• Provide fixing solution to off-test plant blends during after-office hours and weekend days. 
• Involve in the trouble shooting of process plants by analyzing non-routine samples.  

Support training and chemical management

• Train new laboratory Technicians on new test methods and calibration procedures & non-routine test methods.
• Manage the chemical inventory in the laboratory in accordance with government and company safety requirements
• Manage MSDS information database and their dissemination

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from a recognized University with more than 3 years of experience in analytical testing of an Oil/ Petroleum/ Petrochemical or Lubricant Additives Manufacturing facility.  

•  Strong knowledge in Analytical Chemistry with operating knowledge of laboratory instruments such as ICP, FTIR, CHN Analyzers, Auto-titrators, Foaming tests, Viscometer, etc.

•  A Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Petroleum Testing Methods and familiar in ASTM, IP and APHA Test methods

• Effective written and basic verbal English communication skills

•  Able to work in a cross-functional environment
