Chevron SLR Lab is accepting online applications for the position of Laboratory Inspector located in North Salt Lake, UT through July 1st, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Overview:

The Laboratory Senior Inspector provides chemistry information, analytical methods, instrument troubleshooting, and consulting to the refinery and supports specialized sample testing services for process stream monitoring and optimization, product certification, environmental compliance, and special projects.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Performs a wide variety of tests on refinery process sample and finished products per established procedures. Test methods vary from simple methods such as density/gravity, color, and viscosity to more complex methods such as knock (octane) testing, automatic distillation and titration, gas chromatography, etc.

• Learn and perform different tests following Standard Operating procedure (SOP) documentation, ASTM, EPA testing methods, and other methodologies.

• Checks test results against specifications. Utilizes standard Quality Control / Quality Assurance processes to ensure accuracy and precision of results.

• Validates data, performs calculations, and reports test results.

• Checks and calibrates equipment, reviews test methods, and performs preventive or corrective maintenance.

• Strong problem-solving skills. Identifies risks and takes action to eliminate.

• Completes other duties as direct by the Laboratory Management Staff.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• 2 years of analytical laboratory testing experience is required OR 2 years of college chemistry.

• Able to work rotating day shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.

• Good computer skills and problem-solving ability.

• This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven track record in Safety and Reliability.

• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse team, in an inclusive setting.

• Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a TWIC card.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Technology (Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing), including college chemistry.

• Refinery laboratory testing experience.

• Refinery/chemical plant process operations experience.

• Strong problem-solving skills. Identifies risks and takes action to eliminate.

• Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This will resubmit your previous results.
