Chevron Australia is seeking an Emergency Management Specialist to join the HSE team supporting the Australia business. Reporting to the HSE Manager, OE Execution, this Perth-based role provides Emergency Management expertise across Chevron Australia, leading the implementation and continuous improvement of processes and safeguards that strengthen emergency preparedness, crisis readiness, response capability, and business resilience.  Regular travel to Chevron-operated locations, including Barrow Island, Onslow and the Wheatstone Platform, is required, including planned leave coverage (minimum. 8-10 weeks / year).

about you

The role requires strong collaboration across all levels of the organisation, working with leadership teams, site Emergency Management specialists, operational and functional teams, HSE practitioners, emergency service providers and Chevron's Global Emergency Management network to strengthen response capability and organisational resilience across Australian operations.


In addition, the Specialist, Emergency Management will:

  • Lead coordination of Emergency Management preparedness and capability activities across Chevron Australia, supporting Incident Management Teams, site-based Emergency Management specialists and operational leadership teams.
  • Develop, maintain and assure emergency management plans, systems, equipment and response capabilities, including emergency preparedness, crisis management, business continuity and oil spill response arrangements.
  • Coordinate and evaluate emergency management training, drills, workshops and exercises, supporting competency development and driving continuous improvement through lessons learned.
  • Provide specialist support during incident and crisis activations, including preparedness, response, recovery and resilience activities. Provide specialist support during incident and crisis activations, including preparedness, response, recovery and resilience activities.
  • Partner and build productive relationships with operational teams, workforce and Chevron's global Emergency Management network to standardise processes, share learnings and strengthen Emergency Management capability across Australian operations

To be considered for this role, applicants should have,

  • Demonstrated practical experience in planning, implementing and assuring Emergency Management programs within oil and gas, resources, energy or another high-hazard operating environment, including emergency preparedness and response, crisis management, business continuity and/or oil spill response.
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, facilitation and influencing skills, including the ability to build trusted relationships and influence without authority across all levels of an organisation.
  • Proven ability to translate technical requirements into practical operational solutions and collaborate effectively with leaders, frontline personnel, business partners and support teams.
  • A visible and credible HSE professional who demonstrates integrity, builds trust and promotes a positive workforce culture.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • A qualification in Emergency Management, Risk Management, Safety, Business Continuity or a related discipline.
  • Significant HSE or operational experience, including substantial Emergency Management experience (site experienced preferred).
  • Experience in oil and gas, resources, energy or another high-hazard industry.
  • Knowledge of Australian Emergency Management frameworks and relevant Western Australian legislation and response arrangements.
