This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing mechanical systems associated with pumps, compressors, gas and steam turbines, and electrical power system components such as motors and generators.

The role focuses on identifying and implementing improvements in reliability, integrity, energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and safety. The Machinery Engineer collaborates across all organizational levels and with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance equipment performance and support refinery operations, maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects. Provide technical review and approval of vendor calculations, drawings, and reports to ensure compliance with Chevron Engineering Standards (CES) and industry codes.

Operational Excellence & Reliability

Resolve operational and reliability issues during start-up and normal plant operations, ensuring minimal downtime and optimized performance. Drive improvements in design tools, develop engineering procedures, and respond to technical inquiries with actionable recommendations. Spearhead resolution of quality issues during equipment manufacturing; witness and approve factory acceptance tests to validate compliance with CES. Implement effective work practices, applications, and tools for condition monitoring, machinery performance tracking, turnaround planning, and engineering work order development.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Lead machinery initiatives and reliability studies to enhance plant safety, integrity, and performance. Support economic evaluations for proposed upgrades or improvements to rotating equipment assets. Troubleshoot complex machinery problems, develop alternatives, and collaborate with condition monitoring teams to implement long-term reliability solutions.

Collaboration & Governance

Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Turnaround, Projects, and Construction teams to improve asset reliability and operational efficiency. Capture and share lessons learned, ensuring integration into systems for sustainable improvement. Promote adherence to CES for new or modified equipment; manage governance processes for deviations and recommend updates to standards as needed. Interface with Global Manufacturing and Corporate Best Practice teams to share lessons learned and evaluate emerging technologies for application in refinery operations.
