Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Process Control Engineer through February 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). 

Designs, implements, and maintains advanced process control (APC) applications to optimize unit performance across the facility. Configures and supports control strategies and regulatory logic to improve stability, efficiency, and reliability. Provides ongoing stewardship of process control, including troubleshooting, tuning, and alarm management, while partnering with Operations to ensure safe, consistent, and predictable unit performance.

Supports medium sized clients/customers and makes significant contributions to more complex projects under periodic supervision.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Implement, deploy, and maintain multivariable process control applications, including inferential calculations to support advanced control and optimization, that are consistent with short-term and long-term operating plans
  • Implement and maintain basic and advanced regulatory process control strategies
  • Provide alarm management support by monitoring alarm system performance, identifying and addressing nuisance alarms, and partnering with Operations to improve alarm effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with site personnel to deliver evergreen network & security compliance for basic & advanced process control applications
  • Identify and resolve control performance issues by coordinating with colleagues in other areas of specialization
  • Identify and capture opportunities for improving the safety, reliability, profitability, and operability of the operating area through process control improvements
  • Act as a mentor/resource for refinery process and control engineers. Influence and improve work processes for a global refining technical system
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operating area interactions with the rest of the refinery and help troubleshoot process problems in the operating area and refinery

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 5 years of process control engineering experience
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals (especially Chemical/process control), basic & advanced regulatory controls, and analytical tools
  • Strong technical/analytical skills, decision-making, communication, mentorship abilities, technical knowledge of oil/gas processes, awareness of automation technologies, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS Chemical Engineering degree
  • 5+ years in oil and gas process control engineering
  • Strong technical knowledge of AspenTech DMC3, Aspen GDOT, or comparable optimization applications
  • Familiarity with Honeywell DCS (EPKS and/or TDC3000) and analytical tools such as PI, SEEQ, Excel
  • Effective oral & written communication skills with a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $104,700 – $206,400. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
