The IT System Support Analyst is a safety sensitive position that specializes in Process Control Network (PCN) systems with accountability for maintaining the site’s critical operational systems within the PCN, Able to deploy, implement, and support a variety of PCN sysadmin solutions.
IT System Support Analyst will implement and support systems, various advanced process control applications and a variety of other APC applications to improve margins in the Business Unit.
The IT System Support Analyst collaborates with site Network Administrator, Process Control Engineer, Control Analyst, I&E teams, and vendors to implement changes to PCN, PLC and Scada systems.
This position provides technical support to local operations personnel in the ongoing maintenance and administration of systems including cybersecurity, information and risk compliance, software license management, and software patch management. Supports new projects as well as maintenance of existing systems.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts & groups per request
Grants and removes access to server and related resources
Responsible for troubleshooting, monitoring applications as well as applying server and workstation patches on a regular basis
Conducts performance tuning, problem resolution, storage administration, security administration, capacity planning, and policy administration
Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, host and VM server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, experience with hyper-converged platforms
Support, administration and troubleshooting of hardware, operating systems, and software for PCN/Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Servers and Workstations. This includes working on domain controllers, Human Machine Interface (HMI) workstations, Input/output (IO) Servers, Engineering Stations, Historian and PI Servers, SIS and PCS controllers, Data Storage servers, dedicated backup utility servers and any other third-party machines
Working on system builds as per company’s standards, patch management, virus protection, SIEM, system monitoring and backup and recovery management
Working on maintaining IP compliance of all equipment in PCN and DMZ by adhering/implementing company’s Information Risk Standards
Maintaining up to date inventory as per company’s standards
Management of all software licenses installed on equipment in PCN and DMZ
Monitor reliability and health of PCN and DMZ equipment in the form of daily checks.
Identify problems and implement corrective actions.
Support and integrate IT standards into the PCN environment
Supervise and control all vendor’s activities related to systems/subsystems during their visit to the facility
Works closely with the Maintenance, Operations, Process Teams, BU in performing RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis), LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis) and asset management improvement and training as needed
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT/OT systems infrastructure within industrial or manufacturing environments.
Proven experience supporting and maintaining OT systems such as DCS, PLCs, SCADA, and lab systems.
Strong understanding of Process Control Networks (PCN), cybersecurity principles, and IT/OT convergence.
Proficiency in infrastructure technologies, including cloud platforms, networking, and process automation systems.
Proven experience in SAP and OSI PI is required.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443, or comparable credentials are highly desirable.
Experience with IT/OT standards and architecture.
Familiarity with vendor coordination and service provider management in industrial settings.
Experience with industrial cybersecurity tools and monitoring platforms.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP).
Experience working in hazardous or regulated environments, with knowledge of safety and compliance standards.
Prior professional experience in Power BI, and Python will be advantageous.
Relocation Options
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
