Job Summary
The Regional Category Specialist, Logistics is part of the International SCM team supporting the logistics business and operations. This role reports to the Regional Category Team Lead for Logistics & Packaging category and is responsible for managing the category strategies, sourcing, negotiations, and commercial evaluations for Chevron entities within AP and ME region. This role will be based in Chevron Singapore Pte Ltd, Duo Tower Office located in Bugis, Singapore.
The Regional Category Specialist, Logistics will establish long and short-term category strategies in alignment with business needs, provide commercial guidance to business units and supports benchmarking activities to deliver leading performance. This role will drive cost management initiatives, manage strategic sourcing efforts, lead negotiations and deliver supplier relationship management approaches to improve commercial and operational performance. To be successful, this role will require close collaboration and positive relationship building with management, business stakeholders, global/regional/local SCM team and external vendors to deliver commercial value in support of Chevron’s business objectives.
The ideal candidate thinks strategically, exhibits strong interpersonal skills and is collaborative but also works with significant autonomy; a strong individual who can drive category strategies and has proven track record of managing multiple initiatives and driving them to completion to meet business objectives; communicates effectively and strong ability to influence business stakeholders and suppliers at all levels and have a high level of professionalism, customer focus and business judgement.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Manage a portfolio of categories within AP and ME region
Category analysis – conducts supply market analysis and market benchmarking.
Develop annual category and contracting plans that are aligned with business plan objectives.
Develop procurement strategies to execute sustainable cost savings for the business.
Sourcing and negotiation - utilizes strategic sourcing process and techniques to ensure competitive advantage and leads negotiations by applying appropriate negotiation strategies and tactics.
Develop and implement contracts with integration of key suppliers - develop transition plans and oversees implementation of new contracts in conjunction with relevant business experts.
Supplier performance monitoring. Develop mechanisms and metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery.
Ongoing supplier and contract management - develops supplier relationships to ensure that cost reduction, value creation, and innovation are ongoing activities.
Utilizes strategic cost management tools and trend forecasts to assist in maximizing value of supplier relationships and contracts
Provides functional guidance to the business in AP and ME region and drives P2P compliance
Executing end-to-end procurement process in alignment and compliant with the company policies and procedures.
Act as a key Procurement focal point for AP and ME region related to Logistics and warehouse contracts, provide advice and consultation to business stakeholders on procurement, contract management policies and implementation of global/regional initiatives at a local and regional level.
Support Regional SCM Managers and Team Lead in driving cost management opportunities and special projects for the business.
Work collaboratively as a business partner to explore and implement any cost savings and/or efficiency management opportunities.
Regularly communicates plans and progress with stakeholders and leaders to ensure alignment and influence the broad adoption of cost reduction strategies.
Leverage technologies or data analytical platforms to enhance procurement performance and process efficiency.
Drive synergy and enterprise sourcing initiatives.
Coordinates with other regional & local leaders, including regional & local business stakeholders to ensure quality-of-service delivery
Work with the Regional Procurement, Corporate functional groups, and the stakeholders to ensure the principles, strategies, processes, standards, and Chevron Way behaviors are applied to deliver competitive performance
Track and report savings results and supplier performance periodically
Develop mechanisms and metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or Logistics Management, Procurement or related field
At least 3 - 4 years’ experience in Procurement, with strong sourcing and negotiation skillsets and contracting competency
Have an in-depth understanding of Category Management, with experience in category planning, contract management, supplier management and possess strong negotiation skills.
Experience in handling ocean freight, transportation, warehouse, and airfreight contracts and possessing adequate logistics operations knowledge
Knowledge in commercial and financial analysis is associated with procurement activities.
Demonstrates ability to identify new opportunities, challenge the "status quo" and drive change.
Possesses strong analytical, project management, change management, influence, communication and presentation skills.
Good team player and strong drive for performance and results. Demonstrated record of consistent and reliable execution of work plans.
Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
E-Procurement & digital knowledge – SMART by GEP / SAP, AI, Power Query, Power Automate and BI dashboard capability is a plus
Relocation Options
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
