Role Overview:

This role leads physical LNG trading activities with a primary focus on the Pacific Basin, while operating as an integral part of a globally integrated trading organisation. The position is accountable for driving portfolio optimisation, managing market risk, and delivering earnings growth through a combination of asset-backed trading and third-party market activity.

The successful candidate will work closely with regional and global teams to maximise enterprise value across Chevron’s LNG portfolio.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Business Leadership & Performance

    • Accountable for the development and execution of the global physical LNG trading business plan, delivering against targets for earnings, cash flow, cost discipline, and risk management.

    • Drive commercial outcomes through disciplined portfolio optimisation and trading activity across the LNG value chain.

  • Trading Strategy & Market Execution

    • Lead the development and execution of physical LNG trading strategies, with a strong emphasis on Pacific Basin markets (e.g. JKM-linked dynamics).

    • Partner with the Atlantic Basin Trading Manager to ensure coordinated, global optimisation and positioning.

    • Direct trading activity to optimise equity LNG flows and capture market opportunities, maximising enterprise value.

  • Portfolio & Risk Management

    • Manage global LNG portfolio price exposure and oversee asset-backed trading strategies leveraging Chevron’s portfolio.

    • Ensure robust tracking, reporting, and management of exposures in line with trading mandates, controls, and governance frameworks.

    • Provide clear articulation of market views, risk positions, and mitigation strategies.

  • Commercial Development & Structuring

    • Collaborate with LNG Origination and Enterprise Optimization to shape portfolio strategy and identify new value-accretive opportunities.

    • Lead or support structuring and negotiation of complex spot and term LNG transactions.

    • Advise on commercial and operational risks associated with trading and origination activities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Drive a “One Team” approach across Trading, Enterprise optimization, Origination, Shipping, Operations, Scheduling, Upstream, Finance, Legal, Risk, and Contracts teams to maximise portfolio value.

    • Ensure alignment between commercial strategy and operational execution, including shipping and logistics optimisation.

  • Organisational Capability & Leadership

    • Build and lead a high-performing, diverse trading team, fostering a strong commercial mindset and risk discipline.

    • Develop organisational capability across trading, optimisation, and third-party business growth.

    • Act as a subject matter expert on LNG markets across the enterprise.

  • Governance & Controls

    • Ensure adherence to all trading policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

    • Continuously enhance systems, processes, and controls to support a growing and increasingly complex trading business.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Extensive experience in LNG trading, including management of global portfolio exposure and risk (typically 8+ years for this level).

  • Proven leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced trading environment.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of generating value through trading, optimisation, and deal structuring.

  • Deep understanding of LNG market fundamentals, including regional dynamics across Asia, Europe, and global flows.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing short- to mid-term trading strategies across physical and financial markets.

  • Strong expertise in risk management, including the ability to articulate exposures, market views, and hedging strategies.

  • Experience negotiating and structuring LNG contracts (spot and term).

  • Established industry network and ability to originate new business opportunities.

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and capture optimisation opportunities.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills across global, cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in leveraging digital tools and analytics to support trading decisions and risk management.
