Chevron Shale & Tight Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Operations Technical Assistant located at Tioga, ND, and Keene, ND through February 10th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
A Technical Assistant supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations by monitoring production systems, ensuring high‑quality operational data, and enabling frontline workflows/value streams across the asset. This role serves as a systems expert, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and alignment across digital tools and operational processes.
Technical Assistants work cross-functionally with peers and stakeholders across the asset to ensure that operational systems, workflows, and data standards are consistently applied. They contribute to operational excellence by identifying issues early and supporting system enhancements.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Production & Equipment Monitoring
Monitor oil, water, and gas production from wells to identify abnormal trends and detect early signs of equipment failure.
Support chemical, gas injection, and freshwater programs
Support data and report out regulatory deviations as requested (OOOOa / OOOOb Flaring, Gathering related TAR’s, Lease Hold Wells)
Track and respond to critical process variables, including pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and alarms.
Escalate abnormal operating conditions through established workflows to local area leadership, ensuring timely intervention.
Provide data when needed to support process and production engineers in decision-making.
Local EBS Responsibilities
Serve as the local business process superuser for EBS.
Troubleshoot IT- and workflow-related issues that impact field operations.
Initiate workflow changes needed to support evolving business processes.
Identify and track bad actors/repeat signals, ensuring resolution and improved system reliability.
Train field teams on:
New or updated signals
EBS workflows
Onboarding training for new Field Specialists on digital operating tools.
Local ODR Responsibilities
Act as the primary resource for ODR support for field staff.
Perform daily data validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Train team members on:
New ODR codes and updates
Correct data-input procedures
ODR expectations for new Field Specialists.
Support field teams by resolving ODR-related issues to maintain high‑quality production and operating data.
Other Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with Chevron policies, Operational Excellence (OE) expectations, and established operating standards.
Identify, evaluate, and/or support OPEX/CAPEX reduction opportunities and other value‑adding initiatives.
Independently perform routine operational tasks with a high level of accuracy.
Work under general supervision when completing non‑routine or complex activities.
Participate in formal risk‑management processes, including Risk Assessments, Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and Management of Change (MOC) reviews.
Carry out additional duties assigned by the Operations Superintendent.
Field Time (meetings/collaboration) – 25%
Desk Time (admin, invoices, data analysis, emails) – 75%
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Advanced computer skills (Microsoft, SAP, Power BI, SQL Server, Spotfire)
Knowledge of safety requirements and best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Industrial/oilfield experience preferred
