About the position:

Develop communication plans and products to influence external stakeholders and enhance the reputation of the company. Provide advice to the business on internal and external communications. Engage with media stakeholders, including fostering positive relationships, preparing responses to media enquiries, and planning and executing proactive media opportunities. Prepare external communications, including speeches, and presentations on behalf of senior company leaders. Prepare internal communications to support employee retention. Develop content for company website, social media channels and publications. Support crisis communications as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advice to the business on external communications, including strategies to engage target audiences, communications trends, use of communications tools and channels, and development of messaging

  • Develop communications plans and products to influence external stakeholders and enhance the reputation of the company

  • Engage with media stakeholders, including fostering positive relationships, preparing responses to media enquiries, and planning and executing proactive media opportunities

  • Provide coaching to senior leaders on media engagement and external presentation skills

  • Prepare external communications including speeches, presentations, research papers, and award submissions on behalf of senior company leaders

  • Develop content for company website, social media channels and publications

  • Manage brand expression in India

  • Prepare workforce communications strategy to drive employee engagement, build a One Chevron culture and support employee retention

  • Develop internal communications collateral and written material including articles, presentations, speeches, video scripts, publications, emails and internal events (townhalls, lunch and learns)

  • Provide coaching to leaders on workforce engagement and presentations

  • Participate in emergency/crisis communications, including member of the Chevron India Emergency Management Team

  • Participation in regular drills to test systems, procedures and response

  • Ability to respond directly to stakeholders during emergency/crisis situations

  • Proactively manage relationships with key media and associated stakeholders

  • Represent Chevron at various industry events in a professional manner

  • As directed, this role may be assigned special projects to support the broader corporate affairs team

  • Work proactively and collaboratively with internal clients and other members of the Corporate Affairs team to deliver Chevron’s key communications

  • Consistently demonstrate professional conduct and adopt the Chevron Way when interacting with internal and external stakeholders

Required qualifications:

  • This role requires demonstrated experience in communications strategy including writing and planning, and measurement/evaluation tasks.

  • It requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, an ability to think strategically, work in a team environment, and, because it requires working on multiple projects simultaneously, hence, good prioritization and organizational skills

  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience in communications

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communications strategies in support of business objectives

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Media management, including experience responding to media inquiries, knowledge of the media landscape and an ability to build and maintain relationships with media stakeholders

  • Proven interpersonal skills and capacity to represent Chevron externally in a professional manner

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to work collaboratively, foster cooperation and teamwork with a diverse group of people

  • Tertiary qualifications in community relations, communications, marketing, and/or the social sciences will be considered favorably
