about the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a position title to join the function team. Reporting to the supervisor’s position title, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
The Portfolio and Non-Operated Joint Venture (NOJV) Engineer will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our portfolio of NOJV assets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and maximizing returns. The successful candidate will provide insights and recommendations on optimal development strategy based on type curve, depletion effects, and costs.
Key responsibilities
Portfolio Management:
o Maintain and update Fair Market Value (FMV) tool with public transaction values
o Key insights review for 3rd party closed transactions
o Screen active permitting activity offsetting Chevron positions to highlight deal potential
o Key competitor acquisition target screening- high level assessment of competitor company value, upside potential, and possible synergies
o Initial inventory characterization for new discovered resources opportunities
o Preliminary competitor basis of design (BOD) review for transact areas, compare to existing knowledge of basin area wells and developments
Non-Operated Joint Venture (NOJV) Management:
o Upload key partner data received in flat file to aid in technical analysis of Operator or Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests. Establish and maintain status tracker of backlog and progress of data uploading
o Timely evaluation of NOJV AFEs for initial economic screening with clearly documented workflow assumptions for Capital, Net Revenue Interest (NRI), Production forecasting (bench/interval and gunbarrel), Opex, and price deck (Decision Support package expectations to be communicated).Maintain status updates on AFE tracker for AFEs under review, include weekly updates and evergreen key attribute updates. Maintain opportunity catalog schedule based on daily reports received from operators.
o Perform lookback analysis on wells assessed to participate and actual results.Perform lookback analysis on wells transacted or non-consented / non-participation and whether that was a good decision
o Leverage lookback analysis in future AFE assessments in terms of forecast reliability (ranges), capital spend (ranges), and schedule adherence
o Assist with inventory cleanup/strategic plan alignment and whether individual well decisions align with strategic plans.
o Assist with Operator intelligence/activity changes/earnings call insights reporting quarterly. Assist in operator profiles compared with Chevron and who excels in key benchmarks.
Technical and Economic Analysis:
o Conduct requested technical assessments and economic evaluations of shale and tight assets.
o Utilize reservoir engineering and production data to support decision-making processes.
o Expert in evaluating AFEs for economics performance.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with cross-functional teams, including geoscience, drilling, and production, to ensure integrated asset management.
o Communicate effectively with internal teams to enable external stakeholders engagements, providing updates on portfolio performance and strategic initiatives.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of experience in reservoir engineering or asset management, with a focus on shale and tight formations preferred.
Skills:
o Strong technical skills in reservoir engineering and economic analysis.
o Proficiency in AFE evaluations and portfolio management.
o Excellent communication and internal stakeholder engagement.
