About the position:
This is an early to mid-career position in the Chevron ENGINE Earth Science Chapter for a knowledgeable Geoscientist with an established work history delivering high-quality carbonate depositional system focused stratigraphic frameworks and reservoir characterization products that are utilized to evaluate hydrocarbon reservoirs.
Chevron ENGINE is looking for high-performing candidates to join our Reservoir Characterization sub-team.The successful candidate will support Asset Class Geologists and Technical Specialists to deliver field development/application products. There will be the potential to assist with technology development.
The Carbonate Stratigrapher role will support not only the Reservoir Modeling group within ENGINE but will be partnering with Chevron Technical Center (CTC) subject matter experts to provide differentiating capability and deliver superior outcomes to key asset classes within Chevron.
Key responsibilities:
The position will be responsible for executing established carbonate stratigraphic and reservoir characterization workflows, utilized to assist with the evaluation of presence and quality of source, reservoir, and seal in subsurface hydrocarbon reservoirs.
This position will be responsible for working closely with subject matter specialists in the Chevron Technical Center (CTC) in Houston, and colleagues co-located within the Global Capability Center (GCC).
The role requires the ability to integrate multiple data sets to assist business unit partners in the construction of robust geologic frameworks in carbonate systems, with an emphasis on regional through field-scale stratigraphic interpretation and integration.
The ideal candidate will have a technical background in carbonate sedimentology and stratigraphy, and an understanding of how to utilize and integrate biostratigraphy data into the interpretation (in collaboration with a biostratigrapher). An ability to describe thin-sections and incorporate that data into the final reservoir quality evaluation forms a core part of the Chevron carbonate reservoir characterization workflow.
Responsibilities will include the framing, prioritization, and execution of integrated studies, and an ability to work with colleagues in various locations to assess the implications for the petroleum system elements and associated risks across multiple sub-disciplines.
Additional responsibilities might include assisting with research projects related to the development of new workflows and engaging with laboratory and academic partners.
