About the position

Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Project Design Engineering team. Reporting to the Manager Project Design Engineering, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.

The Senior Project Engineer is part of the Project Designs Engineering Team within the Chevron ENGINE Center performing design activities to deliver larger complex projects within Chevron oil and gas facilities.  This role leads cross-disciplinary design activities and is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of the project design and is in line with the OE culture.  The Senior Project Engineer works closely with other engineering functions to ensure projects are completed safely, timely, are cost effective, and meet required quality expectations.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide project engineering and leadership to deliver pre-FEED design for capital projects.
  • Lead assigned scopes based on business needs, including:
    • Developing and stewarding internal standard designs.
    • Managing Chevron Engineering Standards to align with industry standards and supplier specifications.
    • Working with multi-discipline teams to execute early engineering scopes and deliver Digital Design Packages.
    • Ensuring that engineering and deliverables for assigned projects meet the expectations within Chevron’s Engineering Quality Management System (EQMS) using the established tools and procedures.
    • Supporting the Facilities and Operations of the Future (FOF) program delivering digital solutions across the enterprise.
  • Maintain engineering quality while driving execution to meet cost and schedule metrics agreed with the business.
  • Lead development of manufacturing design work processes and procedures in an execution environment.
  • Plan, define, track, and manage a full range of facility design activities.
  • Interface with cross-functional technical development groups and FE teams; communicate effectively across organizational levels.
  • Participate in detailed process/mechanical design activities, including oversight of an engineering contractor as needed.
  • Evaluate and articulate tradeoffs in cost, schedule, reliability, operability, and applicability to development requirements.
  • Apply facilities knowledge to enable a multi-discipline and functional systems design approach.
  • Drive systems engineering focus using digital design tools and software to leverage standard designs and Minimum Functional Objectives.
  • Develop engineering solutions with full consideration of safety (personal and process) and environmental factors.
  • Execute using available tools and processes, including Agile and Operations Science (PPM).
  • It is anticipated that domestic and international travel, or in some cases, Temporary Domestic Assignments of up to 24 months at engineering contractor’s offices will be required.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation/Controls, Process Controls, or Process) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university.
  • Experience in engineering facilities design in one or more of the following phases: Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Startup, and Operations.
  • Strong knowledge of system interfaces, systems engineering, and project execution.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and CAD designers to deliver quality Engineering Design Packages/FEED packages while managing scope, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • 10–15 years of experience in an engineering execution or consultant role within offshore, complex, LNG or power generation facilities
  • Operations and facility commissioning/startup experience.
  • Project management experience on larger capital projects within oil and gas.
