Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
• People Leadership & Team Development: Lead and coach a small team by setting direction, delegating work, clarifying ownership, supporting transitions and creating a pragmatic culture that balances accountability, flexibility and trust. Own PMP responsibility for the team.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership: Partner with Shipping leaders, Fleet Technical, shipyard personnel, managed service providers, engineering and enterprise platform teams to align priorities, resolve blockers and maintain visibility on commitments and risks.
• Governance, Compliance & Risk Management: Translate enterprise requirements into vessel realities, represent Shipping in cross-functional discussions and ensure solutions account for operational safety, support models, vendor dependencies, shipboard cyber, access and compliance activities.
• Maritime Application & Service Reliability: Coordinate issue triage, validate ownership boundaries and ensure application migrations, upgrades and support transitions are planned with awareness of vessel operations and business impact.
• Shipboard IT Operations & Escalation Management: Lead operational support and escalation for shipboard server, storage, network connectivity, vessel communications, business-critical applications and troubleshooting with shore teams and vendors during outages or degraded service.
• Vessel Deployments & Shipyard Execution: Coordinate end-to-end IT deployments for new vessels and major shipyard activities, including lab staging, shipment readiness, installation planning, on-site support, activity tracking, status reporting and team alignment.
• Infrastructure Modernization & Strategic Programs: Support Shipping-specific infrastructure modernization, including server refreshes, Windows migrations, network architecture changes, lab moves and deployment readiness across multiple vessels.
• Technical Change Management & Operational Readiness: Serve as the Shipping focal point for technical change risk by validating vessel practicality and championing sequencing, testing and contingency planning to minimize operational disruption.
• Asset Lifecycle & Logistics Management: Manage hardware logistics, asset movement, vessel deliveries and decommissions, equipment recovery, business data preservation and transition planning for retired, transferred or redelivered vessels.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Maritime Operations, Cybersecurity, Business Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in IT operations supporting safety-critical or distributed operational environments.
• Experience leading IT operations, infrastructure support, service delivery, technical change coordination or lifecycle management in a multi-stakeholder environment.
• Experience coordinating vendors, managed service providers, centralized platform teams and business stakeholders to resolve operational issues and deliver planned work.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure areas such as servers, storage, networking, endpoint services, communications services, business applications and operational support processes.
• Ability to translate enterprise IT, cyber, compliance and platform requirements into practical execution plans for vessels, shipyards or remote operating environments.
• Strong communication, prioritization and escalation skills, with the ability to balance vessel schedules, business impact, compliance needs and operational risk.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting maritime, logistics, shipping, energy, industrial operations, operational technology or other remote asset environments.
• Experience with IT asset lifecycle planning, equipment logistics, deployment readiness, decommissioning, data preservation and shipyard or field execution planning.
• People leadership experience, including coaching, work assignment, performance management and ownership of team operating rhythms.
• Certification options that may be relevant include ITIL 4 Foundation or Managing Professional, PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified ScrumMaster, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, ServiceNow fundamentals, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals, CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator.
• Additional education or training in maritime systems, industrial cybersecurity, operational technology, network operations, cloud operations, business continuity or risk management.
